-Mainboard-

  • Gatekeeper of Malakir sometimes it's necessary to have a creature that can two for one your opponent. edict effects are powerful in the right situations and they can help clear the board of a creature you wouldn't otherwise be able to kill. don't forget though that we still get a 2/2 body out of the deal!

  • Vampire Nighthawk when you get one of these guys equiped with a lashwrithe there is no stopping it. gaining tons of life and swinging for tons of damage always feels super good and on his own the nighthawk can still do a lot of damage while protecting your life total. whether it's trading creatures for two life or swinging over the top to keep you alive it will always be an effective body.

  • Geralf's Messenger having a big recursive threat on the field always feels nice. he's hard to deal with and he makes a good equipable body for lashwrithe. no matter how you slice it the messenger will get some damage through. don't forget the two point life swing whenever he enters the battlefield either. sometimes that can finish the game.

  • Phyrexian Obliterator this boy here is our safety switch. being able to eat attacks left and right while dishing out massive damage is no laughing matter. he basically reads unblockable until your opponent is in range of lethal damage. giving him lashwrithe makes that a lot harder to deal with. trample on a 9/9 or larger is no laughing matter.

  • Lashwrithe this dude is no joke. being able to make a nightmare at turn four or later that continues to grow as you drop more swamps is a good feeling. this equipment makes a body when it enters the field too so don't forget that. lastly it's always important to remember that this equipment will make creatures a problem for your opponent very quickly.

  • Thoughtseize & Inquisition of Kozilek I've always been a fan of discard and these cards right here get the job done in a very efficient fashion! being able to take away your opponent's answers before they can stall you out makes all the powerful threats this deck can drop a real liability for your opponent.

  • Fatal Push & Cast Down we need our own form of removal to deal with all of those pesky blockers. it never hurts to be able to kill almost anything in the format efficiently and effectively.

  • Sign in Blood lastly we have our draw power. late game it's really nice to be able to draw two cards out of the blue. this lets us sift to our fourth land quicker and it allows us to dig for threats as well. don't forget that sign in blood can be a shock when you need it to be.

  • Swamp because lands are important duh!

-- Sideboard --

  • Collective Brutality when the odds are stacked against you, be it burn, storm, aggro, or control, this card will act like the swiss army knife that it is. sometimes its nice to replace dead cards with more effective ones.

  • Damping Sphere storm, KCI, Tron, And Eldrazi, all get knocked down a peg by a well placed sphere. sometimes all you need is to by a couple of turns just so you can dish out the perfect amount of damage. this card can, and most of the time, will get you there.

  • Flaying Tendrils for fast aggro decks that like to make small armies in the space of two or three turns sometimes its nice to have a way to bounce back. this card lets us ride out the game until we assemble a wall of destructive threats.

  • Liliana, the Last Hope sometimes you need a way to kill multiple tokens. other times you need a way to take out a problematic elf, and sometimes you just need a good old fashion second chance with a creature to take the game back. don't forget though lily's ult will win you the game if given enough time.

  • Mutilate sometimes you just need a powerful wrath. not all creatures die to targeted removal and sometimes you need a way to clear the board when your on the losing side. it doesn't hurt that this wrath will always let your lashwrithe equiped buddies go free.

  • Leyline of the Void when your opponent relies on the graveyard to stomp you down, it doesn't hurt to just be able to take their toys away. you can't lose when they can't play. I'm looking at you Griselbrand.

  • Batterskull sometimes you just want a big scary mid-ranged threat on the board. he's powerful, he's resiliant, and he can be tacked onto your other creatures to provide the late game push you need. just an all around powerful dude.
