I've been trying to make a Modern competitive deck for a while and I decided to start with my new favourite card: Norin the Wary. I think I made it, but there's always room for improvement.
The best hand would be the ones having this 6 cards: Norin the Wary, Cavern of Souls, Impact Tremors, Genesis Chamber, Spirit Bonds, Lightning Berserker and 2 any other lands that can produce red or white mana.
Well, this is the basic Norin package.
But what happens when you add the soul sisters Soul Warden Soul's Attendant and the big guy Ajani's Pridemate? That you can gain tons of life each turn and dope the mate. Auriok Champion can help as well, and he is hard to remove.
With a pair of Purphoros, God of the Forge for extra damage and a pair of Lightning Bolt for removal or burning your opponent's face. Additionally, if you desire to remove a bigger threat, you can use Path to Exile.
The lands of the deck are balanced, for ensuring a first turn Norin and a second turn whatever. I added Untaidake, the Cloud Keeper just for Purphoros, for being able to cast it faster or at least for saving an extra mana that turn.
About the sideboard, I haven't tested the deck too much, but I feel like it can be weak against Affinity and against those decks with Leyline of Sanctity. Also, it feels weak against Eldrazi decks. I sideboarded the common package for dealing with those decks and I added a Grim Lavamancer for dealing with Aggro decks.
I hope you like it! Feel free to comment :)
