This commander makes use of other creature's static abilities and gives these abilities to every creature on the combat step. So, if you have a creature with Flying and Vigilance, on your combat step all creatures gain those abilities until your next main phase. When I first saw this card when it was spoiled for Shadows over Innistrad, I thought about making a complete commander deck around it, but I never got the chance to making this dream deck a reality--until now that is!
Because the build has to be specifically under or at twenty dollars, cards like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite,
Akroma, Angel of Wrath
(SO GOOD),
Bruna, the Fading Light
, and
Wormcoil Engine
are off the list before weve even begun to build. More specifically, cards over the $1.50 mark are automatically cut from being in the deck (with a few exceptions) due to our strict budget restraints. So, get ready to bust out your common/uncommon bins, were going searching! Or, you could go on magiccards.info and search for the exact cards you need and not spend literal hours or even DAYS searching for things that might fit the deck.

---= The Build =---
The build of the deck works as follows: As stated in the introduction, we utilize creatures with static abilities that correspond with the keywords on Odric. So, things like Shroud, Shadow, Intimidate, Fear, Horsemanship (Future Build?), or Infect wont be targets for our commanders ability. Looks like we cant have all the fun after all, RIP Infect.
So how will we get our creatures to have all of the things, when they only have one to three things? The answer, artifacts. How do we make our
Fencing Ace
,
Lionheart Maverick
, or
Relic Seeker
better? Get some Fleetfeather Sandles or a Loxodon Warhammer! Three or two abilities on a single artifact? Thatll do the trick! Or, preferably, have a ton of creatures out at the same time with different abilities instead.
Amongst the plethora of equipment and creatures in the deck, weve got enchantments, instants, or sorceries that help out with getting multiple statics on our guys (and gals). Yeah, were looking at you Ajani's Presence, Asha's Favor,
Phalanx Formation
, and
Ondu Rising
! You doin work! And finally theres the other spells that just take care of artifacts and enchantments, but thats pretty self-explanatory.
---= How Do You Win? =---
Essentially, our main win condition comes from all of the creatures themselves, with the inclusion of the awesome Moonsilver Spear. The card is super good as a win condition simply because with every attack you get a free 4/4 Angel with flying onto the battlefield. An ability and a 4/4 body? Great stuff. Combine this with Resolute Archangel, and then youve got your deck.
With all of these great cards at such a low price, this commander deck is perfect for new or casual players and can be easily upgraded and rebuilt once its bought. You dont need to have these overpriced, over the top commander decks to get into the format. And you can get it all on TCG player for around $20, so get your Odric deck today!
