Orzhov Disruption (2nd place FNM)

Standard FNM Midrange WB (Orzhov)

GAAPBatman

Sideboard

So the idea is to disrupt, disrupt, disrupt, then get the threats out and pound them in the face. Because there's only one Whip of Erebos in the deck and I'm not stacked with threats necessarily, I went with Orzhov Charm. Good targeted removal but I can also bounce something to my hand to keep it alive. I tried to strike a balance between creature and hand disruption that I can further lean one way or the other post board if need be.

Another card I included that one may find interesting is Alms Beast. Bottom line, some match ups are rough for Desecration Demon, and although I'm still running 4, Alms Beast can't be tapped down which could save me when otherwise Demon would be tapped out of blocking and I end up taking lethal otherwise. I believe his gift of lifelink will be ultimately negligible since he'll be sending stuff to the graveyard anyway.

ANY AND ALL CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM WELCOME.

Here's a general breakdown:

Round 1 - vs Mono Black 0-2

This was actually a hard fought game overall though the result doesn't reflect that. I basically just got outrun, a whip won round 2 for him.

Round 2 - vs obscure B/U Cipher deck: 2-0

I won easily but most decks would have, his deck was interesting and an attempt at being original, but the whole Cipher mechanic is simply too slow and packs too little a punch.

Round 3 - vs Maze's End: 2-0

Maze's End is a cute strategy. I raced him and kicked the cap out of it on turn 5 with two Mutavaults and an Alms Beast. Round two was much closer and grinding, but I got out an Obzedat and boarded in a Pithing Needle naming Maze's End. He had other ways to win and walled Obzedat with a Blind Obedience, but I won out in the end.

Round 4 - vs Red Burn: 2-0

In game one I got out a couple of Sin Collectors and also got Se Thoughtseizing in, basically drained him of threats. Got a Desecration Demon out to seal the deal. Round 2 went exactly the same way, hilariously similar.

At 3-1 I made the top 4 cut

Top 4 match - vs Rakdos Aggro: 1-2

I lost game 1, he came out swinging too fast. I took game 2 post-board, putting in Dark Betrayal and Pharika's Cures. I was able to control his board early and often. Game 3 was a toss up. I had h at 2 life with no board presence to my Demon and and Sin Collector. Unfortunately I was at 3 life and he top decked a Lightening Strike. A depressing way to lose but a good match.
