Penny Dreadful Season 9
"It all started with Fling and a dream..."
Wall of Blood is the linchpin of this deck. All three win conditions rely on it being out and sucking life. Please don't name it in "can't cast" spells. The deck basically requires a perfect opening hand and/or draws, or I waste your time deciding between conceding the round or "seeing how it goes" (it always goes poorly).
Be aware that, in some ways, this deck has a starting life total of 10. Not all hope is lost at single digit life, but hold on loosely.
Win Condition #1
Wall of Blood + Phyresis + Surestrike Trident
T1: Sigarda's Aid. Surestrike Trident has an equip cost of {4}, and that just won't do.
T2: Open the Armory, if necessary, as we need both Phyresis and Surestrike Trident on hand. Alternately, children of korliss.
T3: Wall of Blood, plain and simple. Don't drop 'im: either he or you is fragile at this point.
T4: Hopefully, with four mana on board, we can cast both Phyresis and Surestrike, which will be equipped automatically with Sigarda's. If everything works out, and we have 11 life or more at this point, pump Wall up to 10 power, and chuck that thing. If Children is out, we can gain some of that life back mid-pump to hedge against someone playing red with open mana or if they've brought us to 10 life or less.
Win Condition #2
Wall of Blood + Phyresis + Animate Wall
T1: children of korliss just to have something to do. They might come in handy, sometimes stops people from attacking.
T2: Open the Armory to grab Phyresis or Animate Wall.
T3: Wall of Blood. "God help us all if that thing could attack."
T4: Cast Phyresis and Animate, and swing. Now, we're relying on the opponent not having a creature or some other way to stop the damage going through here, but it only takes three mana total to pull off if we can. It happens more often than you'd think but less often than you'd hope. If a creature's in the way, we hopefully have Prowler's Helm to help, and if life is an issue, Blackblade Reforged can beef us up. That hasn't happened yet but fingers crossed!
Win Condition #3
Wall of Blood + Vizkopa Guildmage + (2) children of korliss
T1: Children of Korliss
T2: Vizkopa Guildmage. I don't like Vizkopa coming down T2. It makes the opponent antsy, but if we want that sweet, sweet T4 win, that's the way it's got to be.
T3: Wall of Blood. Linch. Pin.
T4: 2nd Children of Korliss. Activate Vizkopa's second ability; use Wall to eat away at 10 life; and sac your two Children. They would have wanted it that way. A pro for this combo is that while each piece is necessary, as they're not equipment or auras, one piece being taken out can be replaced by another more easily. A con for the combo is that every piece is a creature, and those are harder grab from the middle of the deck, unlike the auras or equipment.
Conclusion
I'm really enjoying this deck, and most of the people playing against it seem pretty amused by the jank, win or lose. Please don't try to swing for regular combat damage with the Wall. 20 is not a small number. It is a big number.
