Ok, this deck has several tricks up its sleeve, so let's check it out!
The scenario:
Build up defense and life while teasing opponent's life; then slam them hard without swinging. This deck can run on at least 6 mana, as long as I have Blinkmoth Urn in play, but I also have several other methods in obtaining mana for my high cost creatures.
The combos:
First Combo, for mana -I need 4 lands, any color. First pay 2 for Orhov Signet, then use that card plus the other two for Khalni Gem, recalling the two tapped lands. Next turn, I will have 7 drops next turn. A weak combo, but due to funds it works.
Second Combo - Seen this one before, Darksteel Citadel and Phylactery Lich. I believe the combo is self explanatory.
Third Combo - Soul Warden, Auriok Champion, and Orzhov GuildmageWell, this is a goody. Even though it is not a combo in the traditional sense, it does provide a nice way to get life...fast. If these three are in my hand from the start with some plains, I can easily reach 25 life for Divinity of Pride and 30 life for Chalice of Life
.
Fourth Combo -Blood Seeker and Hissing Miasma.Once I rack up my life totals, life is expendable. Also, in the beginning I focus on NOT swinging, so Hissing Miasma discourages my opponent from swinging. Combine with Blood Seeker, they suffer not only from swinging, but from summoning as well!
Fifth Combo - Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Planar Cleansing, and Elixir of ImmortalityNow. I asked a question on the boards about this one, and I think this is very effective. Well, Avacyn, Angel of Hope makes all my guys indestructible, so Planar Cleansing would not affect my creatures (even Phylactery Lich if tied with Darksteel Citadel). But once I play it, I might lose my Blinkmoth Urn. That would hurt. And, what if I have to play Planar Cleansing BEFORE Avacyn, Angel of Hope? Well, to protect my deck Elixir of Immortality can help lessen the blow in case of emergency.
Combo yet to come - Onyx Mage, Dawn Elemental or Beloved Chaplain, and Valor Made Real.
Army comes, use Valor Made Real, my creature does not die, and I give it deathtouch. Good by army!
Lastly, some favorite card highlights:
Dawn Elemental - OMG I LOVE THIS CARD!!!!! a 3/3 flying that cannot take damage, so deathtouch does not work.
Blinkmoth Urn - This card....is VITAL in my deck, especially due to the high cost creatures. I tried to mix it up with more 1 and 2 drops, but without this the deck would be hard to manage.
Clone Shell - Some of my friends say this card is junk, but I say it is so...much...fun! I get it, and who knows what high cost creature I get. Since I do have many high drops, I love teasing opponents with this. "So, you wanna block/kill it? Huh? Huh? Huh?"
Hanna's Custody - Gotta protect my horde of artifacts somehow. Yeah, it can easily be removed, but takes more effort to get rid of stuff, a nice protection there.
Blightsteel Colossus - Did I mention most of my friends have populate/mill decks? In such case, They mill and this puppy comes out and I get to shout "NOT THIS ONE!"
Shattered Angel - Oh, land screwed? Well, at least I can get some life when I get her on the field for all those late coming lands.
Chancellor of the Annex/Chancellor of the Dross - People say they are not that good, but Chancellor of the Dross is a good way to get a life boost in group matches, and Chancellor of the Annex can prevent too many counter spells right from the get go.
I love this deck. But I do notice some vital weaknesses -1. If anyone has enough Zealous Persecution or other -1/-1 cards, then my deck would suffer. Mana Leak and Oblivion Ring might hurt too in the early parts of the match.
