Parun's sick wheels

Commander / EDH UR (Izzet)

Niv-Mizzet, Parun deck. I had way too much fun harassing my old playgroup with Jace's Archivist, and I wanted to build something that could win exploiting this mechanic.

First playtest went really well (3 for 5). Some thoughts on winners/losers from playtest.

Greatly appreciated midrange moves. Nearly finished a player off with Windfall (which would have been glorious) but didn't have the 3 mana. Don't keep a hand just because it has Curiosity in it. Managed a victory against a Ruric Thar deck. If the playgroup intends to pull this out in response to Niv, it might be worthwhile to use more wheels on a stick like Whirlpool Rider.

Winners - Propaganda, Dissipation Field: both of these cards were worth their weight in gold. One player threatened to combo off against Dissipation Field, but the it still made an all-out attack an unfeasible prospect throughout the game.

Curiosity, Ophidian Eye and Tandem Lookout: Yes, I managed to cast all three in one day. Main combo isn't as simple as resolving Curiosity and saying "I win" - if several players have high life totals, it's possible to not have enough cards in deck to finish off with this combo.

Mana Geyser with Astral Cornucopia: Casting that thing for 15 was worth doing.

Niv-Mizzet, The Firemind: managed to fly under the radar cast from the 99 to secure a win.

Psychosis Crawler: spent most of his time as a 2/2 or 3/3 jerk, but that loss of life on draws is a win condition in this deck.

Hugs: People occasionally enjoyed the wheels. Playing things cool with positivity helped greatly.

Losers - Field of Ruin: targeted a strip-mine and lost a land in retaliation. Not Field of Ruin's fault, but definitely remember to wait for something like Gaea's Cradle or Urborg Tomb of Yawgmoth.

Warped Landscape: definitely bad. Got to replace this with some other mana.

Molten Pscyhe with Lotus Bloom: Note that both these cards are fantastic, but I cracked Bloom to cast it and lost Metalcraft.

Primal Amulet: Got into a counter-fight and forgot to put counters on it. Reading it now confirms it doesn't have a "may" trigger, so technically failing to mention it even after priority had passed was a mistake. Definitely cast a few sorceries worth copying, so this mistake may have cost a game.

Tolarian Winds: Just because you can play something on turn 2 doesn't mean you should.
