PDH Combos: Ghostly Flicker

Pauper EDH* Combo Primer

Ruffigan

This is a list of combos that can be used in Pauper EDH utilizing Ghostly Flicker and Displace, as well as similar combos. The Ghostly Flicker combo is probably the most ubiquitous combo in Pauper EDH and is colloquially known as the "Drake Combo". The combo works by Flickering a creature that can return a spell to your hand from your graveyard as it enters the battlefield, such as Archaeomancer, and a permanent that allows you to produce at least when it enters the battlefield, such as Peregrine Drake. When they return from exile Ghostly Flicker will be returned to your hand and you will have enough mana to cast it again, allowing you to repeat this process as many time as you wish. Choosing to flicker Peregrine Drake will obviously leave you with a couple extra mana each time it returns but most everything else will require additional setup, such as using High Tide and Cloud of Faeries.

Putting this into a formula you have F (Flicker/Displace) + R (Creature that returns Flicker/Displace) + U (Untappers or similar role) = Unlimited Ghostly Flicker casts. In addition you may need M (way to generate more than two mana).

F + R + (U + M) = You Win!

The cards in the above list are sorted by these variables. Since the combo often not only causes unlimited spell/creature triggers but also produces unlimited mana there are hundreds of potential ways you could end the game so I will only be covering some of the best/most common uses of the combo.
