Peloponnesian Prowess

Standard* Aggro Budget RW (Boros)

FrostyK

Maybeboard

The deck tries to seize control of the field early by manipulating the Battalion mechanic in concert with the Heroic mechanic. The game should begin by playing one of ten one-drop creatures (Akroan Crusader, Boros Elite, or Loyal Pegasus), then following up with an Akroan Hoplite or Phalanx Leader on turn 2.

With this foothold you can double down on quick bonuses from Battalion and Heroic. The cheap cost of the cards ensures you can put one on the field just about every turn, and Akroan Crusader can generate them frequently to facilitate Battalion's activation. More creatures on the field gives Akroan Hoplite a larger offensive bonus, and Phalanx Leader will permanently buff the entire team with each Heroic trigger. Boros Elite and Firemane Avenger round out the roster by giving bonuses just for attacking with three at a time.

All of the instants and sorceries give combat bonuses to the creatures (save for Wear / Tear) to capitalize on the Heroic mechanic: Coordinated Assault, Dauntless Onslaught, and Martial Glory each target two creatures at once, triggering several Heroic bonuses in addition to their own effects.
