The third major rebuild of the deck performed far better than earlier versions. It held it's own in every match.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far!
Round One/: Mono Black Devotion (1-2)
I lost the first game to a pair of Desecration Demons and a finishing Gray Merchant of Asphodel and simply did not have enough removal after two Thoughtseize to recover.
I sideboarded in more removal with + 3Dark Betrayal and - 3 Dissolve.
I won the second game with an early Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver which I used to steal a Desecration Demon. After that I simply removed all creature threats that came up, hit him with the demon whenever he didn't throw a creature to him, played Jace and then Consuming Aberration for the win.
The third game was a close loss. My deck performed well, milling him to seven cards before I drew into lands for three turns and was killed by Pack Rat.
Round Two: Izzet Burn (2 0)
The second match was an easy win against an Izzet burn deck with young pyromancer. I mostly focused on countering burn spells while building mana to play Jace. His deck never really threatened my position in either game, and both wins were fairly quick.
Round Three: Mono Black Aggro (0 2)
This was another close match. The deck ran Master of the Feast, Nightveil Specter, and Pain Seer. The first game was a close loss. I took him to 1 life playing a Nightveil Specter I took with Ashiok while removing all his major threats. He took me out by drawing into a grey merchant the turn before the kill.
The second game I simply didn't draw into my removal in time to save the game and was taken out by Master of the Feast and Herald of Torment.
Round Four: Mirror Match (2 0)
Round four pitted me against a similar BU mill. His deck ran almost no control and removal, however, and I destroyed his creatures and planeswalkers before he could do any real damage, then played my own unchallenged.
Round Five: Minotaur Tribal (2 0)
I like minotaur tribal, but the deck was far too slow to stand a chance. My opponent played minotaurs on T3, usually, by which time I could afford removal easily, preventing the synergistic effects of the creatures. Minotaurs are really only threatening when there are several of the on the board. One game was won by Consuming Aberration and one by mill. My life total never dipped below 10 in either game.
