Let's see if Lingering Souls and Intangible Virtue is still a thing...

#1 in tournament @ Samurai Comics West — Oct. 26, 2012

Round 1: went up against R/W/U tempo. Game one I won with outracing. Game two I lost to an army of Traft made angels. Game 3 I won by pumping a double striking spirit. Overall Traft and Rootborn Defenses is strong, in this matchup Lingering Souls pulled their weight.

Round 2: Played against Jund midrange. Game one I beat him down low until it was him casting Thragtusks and me cating Revenge of the Hunted on a Precinct Captain. Game two he fought hard, landed an Olivia, I had a Sigarda and some fuel for Olivia. Olivia ate her meal and swung I got hit hard. Next time when she swung in I exiled her away then with nothing left in his hand and dealing with Sigarda doing 14 point lifeswings a turn he scooped. Overall his slower setup seemed to my advantage and a decently protected Sigarda is devastating.

Round 3: Golgari zombies. Game one I got overran by zombies. Game two I fought hard to keep my life total decently up and his field not overwhelming, eventually I get a Trostani down and a Garruk and he can no longer deal enough damage to stop my lifegain. Game 3 was pretty much the same as game 2, except that it was more clear that I was winning. Overall this seems a good matchup, aside from their occasional nut draws I can pretty much overwhelm them with tokens, though I might want another Trostani, how the game changes once she resolves and doesn't die is pretty amazing.

Round 4-5: Fought hard against a pair of McDoubles and boredom (double ID). Overall I probably should have asked for no cheese, the fun sized Snickers is probably what saved me.

Top 8: went up against Bant control. Game one he did his control thing and beat me to death with his army of wurms. Game two Sigarda did a lot of work. Game 3 Sigarda yet again did a lot of work until both of her ate two board wipes, then a centaur token with Ajani and Intangible Virtue backup helped push him down to where a pilgrim with a Rancor could get the last bit in (I probably have bits and pieces of games 2 and 3 mixed up...). Overall not seeing Golgari Charm is annoying and Sigarda is amazing.

Top 4 split, but we rolled a poison die to set up standings (best of 3 die rolls) and I ended up winning the two matches of that to get 1st.
