Enchantment (4)

Sorcery (4)

Began as a way to power out Gurmag Anglers, and turned into a UB graveyard deck. I've been tuning the numbers and ratios during the pandemic, and it feels balanced. Manabase is based on what I own, but will eventually include more Clearwater Pathway   and Underground River (after BRO is legal). There is a notable absence of Narcomoeba and Silversmote Ghoul. They were trimmed for the Gurmag Angler and Tasigur, the Golden Fang package. This package makes this deck fold less to soft gravehate like Soul-Guide Lantern, as a T2 Tome Scour into Gurmag Angler is powerful against a deck that thought a Soul-Guide Lantern might be enough. Additionally, I feel there isn't enough lifegain to consistently trigger Silversmote Ghoul.

FNM 4/8: 3-1: Mono-R (2-1): They had no grave hate, and I went bigger. Creeping Chill helped. Spirits (1-2): G1 they were manascrewed. G2 they landed a T2 Rest in Peace on the play. G3 they topdecked a lord to kill me before I could attack for lethal. Bant Approach Control (2-0): They had no gravehate except a single Rest in Peace which they used Fae of Wishes to find. It was too slow. BR Midrange (2-1): G1 powered out 12 power T3, and they couldn't answer. G2 a timely Go Blank backed by removal for my Gurmag Angler left me topdecking. G3 was back and forth until a good attack and lethal Creeping Chill from an Ipnu Rivulet killed them. Good way to end the night.

Unexpected all-stars were Creeping Chill and Baithook Angler  . Specifically, Baithook Angler   being able to be selectively cast versus the auto trigger of Narcomoeba made it a lot more timely. Also, it can be discarded to Chart a Course. Biggest loser of the night was Ashiok, Dream Render. It was never cast even when in hand and always felt dead when drawn. Mainboard changes: -2 Ashiok, Dream Render, +1 Scrapheap Scrounger, +1 Otherworldly Gaze.

Saturday Pioneer 4/16: 2-2: Simic Butts (2-1): They drew badly. G1 & G3 were over quickly. They drew too many March of Burgeoning Lights. G3 I put 12 power into play with a Haunted Dead and 3 Prized Amalgams. GR Werewolves (1-2): G1 was lost to them going wider. G2 was won to going faster. G3 was lost to the same as G1. Phoenix (1-2): Won a hard fought G1 with a hardcast Creeping Chill. G2 was lost to a large Crackling Drake. G3 was lost to a flipped Thing in the Ice  . Lotus Field (2-0): G1 was won by a T2 Gurmag Angler into a T3 Tasigur, the Golden Fang. G2 was won by a well-timed Damping Sphere followed by a Gurmag Angler.

Highlights include to multiple wins or hard fights on muls to 5. Also, won 2 games on hardcast Creeping Chill.

Saturday Pioneer 4/30: 1-2: Izzet Dragons (1-2): G1 was a close game. Almost lost to a flipped Thing in the Ice  , but hit two Creeping Chills for lethal. Lost G2 & G3 to a timely Anger of the Gods. Bye (2-0) BR Midrange (1-2): G1 was fast. Their removal couldn't keep up with an explosive start. G2 & G3 had slower starts, but lost the long game to a Graveyard Trespasser  .

SNC Updates: -3 Chart a Course, +3 Tainted Indulgence. Want to test it out as a new discard outlet.

November 2022 Update: Pack Rat in the board feels too cute. -2 Pack Rat; +1 Thoughtseize, +1 Fatal Push. Stubborn Denial feels worse than Spell Pierce. -3 Stubborn Denial; +3 Spell Pierce.

Tuesday Night Pioneer 11/8 2-2: Grixis Midragne (2-0): G1 I grinded out the removal with Scrapheap Scroungers. G2 I hit 3 Prized Amalgams and a Scrapheap Scrounger on a T1 Tome Scour; Game was short after that. Bant Spirits (0-2): Lost both games to flyers. GR Energy (1-2): G1 was won by a quick Gurmag Angler and Tasigur, the Golden Fang. G2 They were faster than me. G3 I kept a hand with a land, 3 Tome Scours, 1 Merfolk Secretkeeper, and 1 Otherworldly Gaze. After firing all these off, they landed a Weathered Runestone. The games was over after that. Elves (2-1): I won G1 by going taller. G2 was lost to them going wide. G3 was theirs, but they were not attacking with their huge board. I was able to sneak the game.

Overall, deck felt really good. I want to add a 4th Scrapheap Scrounger. It's been really good at grinding out RB & RBx. MB: -1 Baithook Angler  ; +1 Scrapheap Scrounger.
