A "Commander Masters" Precon, this deck is about gathering the largest gathering of Planeswalkers outside of the War.

The deck's face commanders, Commodore Guff, was one of Urza's Nine Titans who fought against the original Phyrexian threat. He was so powerful that Guff Rewrites History to re-write the destiny of the Phyrexian threat, until he was killed by Yawgmoth. His ability to give planeswalker an additional loyalty counters at your end step will grant them that little extra bit of staying power, so you can get that extra exile of The Wanderer or perhaps you just need to protect Narset, Parter of Veils just a little bit longer before cast that Windfall you add to the deck.

Ian any case, Guff will help ensure your Planeswalker can unleash their ultimate potential!

The first back-up commander is Leori, Sparktouched Hunter. A Patangia Tiger from Ikoria, not much is known about them. Is it possible that this is the creature that set Lukka down the Planeswalker's path? Their ability to copy loyalty abilities suggests it possible. Maybe you want to use this effect to copy the -2 of Ajani Steadfast to get to your other Planeswalker ultimates faster? Or perhaps you want to set the game to "fast mode" by doubling up on Chandra, Awakened Inferno's +2?

With this, and other, effects copying the abilities of your trusted Gatewatch will be the key to winning with Leori in charge.

The second back-up commander for the deck is the Narset, Enlightened Master. An old card, she is a menace on the battlefield! With Hexproof protecting her from removal and her ability to cheat out huge noncreature spells (including Planeswalkers!), she is a huge threat for your opponents! Be ready to cast her multiple times if needed.

As a Planeswalker precon, most of the new cards are aimed at increasing the power of Planeswalker decks. Onakke Oathkeeper and Sparkshaper Visionary both acts as defenders for your precious Planeswalkers, with them taxing your opponents just to attack and turning your Planeswalkers into protected attackers, respectively. However, Red has never been about holding back, as Jaya's Phoenix shows with its effect to copy your Planeswalker's loyalty abilities.

Ramp and removal are also a key piece for any EDH deck and now Planeswalkers get their own spicy tech! Gatewatch Beacon is a mana rock that can Graft Loyalty counters onto any entering Planeswalker (a must have for any Superfriends deck), whilst Guff Rewrites History is a Chaos Warp supercharged, allowing each player to participate in the fun! Just make sure you can deal with whatever comes down.

There are new Planeswalker cards, one for each colour, with each bringing their own flare. Teyo, Geometric Tactician brings the protection the deck needs by forcing combat in a certain direction and can also share cards with opponents (so thoughtful). Chandra, Legacy of Fire is doing Chandra things; creating and burning enemies, though now both are linked to how many friends you have. Vronos, Masked Inquisitor makes his card debut, showing off his ability to phase out other planeswalker and create giant constructs. Too bad he couldn't phase himself out...

Several noticeable reprints line this precon, including Superfriends staples The Chain Veil, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, and Chandra, Awakened Inferno. It also includes the shockingly expensive Mystic Gate, which price remains high, due to its use in many competitive decks. Hopefully these reprints will drop the price of some of these cards.

Between these and the overall price of Commander Masters, this deck may end up as one of the better deals this set has to offer.

Overall, this deck is aimed at players who want to play as many of their favourite Planeswalkers as possible and use as many loyalty as they can. I mean, surely you'll be able to get the ultimate on at least one, right?
