Precon League Meren

Commander / EDH

ThaElectroGypsy

Precon league for Strange Ideas' Commander League. Starts as a vanilla precon with 5 upgrades per week for 8 weeks. Week 1 is 10/13/17

Maybeboard is the cuts from week to week that I need to log for each league event.

Week 1 points accrued was just by order of elimination. 4/3/2/1

Week 2 and beyond will be using the Commander VS ruleset, as follows:

+4/3/2/1 Order of Elimination.
+1 First blood (combat damage).
+1 Casting your Commander 4 or more times.
+1 if you save another player during a game (from losing the game).
+1 Killing a player with Commander damage.
-1 Killing everyone in the same turn.
-1 Attacking person in last place (not tied) (this is a one time point deduction).
-1 Searching for 40 seconds & and every 30 seconds after that.
-1 Not casting your Commander.

Final week of the league. Might turn this into an actual deck, it's been surprisingly fun

Replacing Blood Bairn with Carrion Feeder is pretty much a strict upgrade. 1 cmc sac outlet vs. a 3 cmc one.

Grim Haruspex replacing Phyrexian Rager as a source of card draw. Isn't 100% guaranteed like Rager is, but will provide more value in the greater picture.

Plaguelord and Extractor Demon are high cmc things that do things the deck wants to do, but at a cmc that we want to be winning the game with, not slowly accruing value. Replacing Plaguelord is Yisan, which tutors Spore Frog into Sakura-Tribe Elder into a whole plethora of 3 drops if it's left alone, and able to go the long game into Jarad and Phyrexian Devourer for a table kill. Sidisi is replacing Extractor Demon. Pinpoint tutors on a recurrable body is better than indiscriminate milling, which will open us up into well-timed graveyard hate.

Verdant Force as a curvetopper worked, but it wasn't ideal. More of a Jarad outlet if I didn't have a better creature to loop. Imperial Seal is a great boost in consistency, and works at any point in the game.
