Predator Aggro (new take on an old deck)

Legacy Aggro Competitive RG (Gruul) RGW (Naya) Zoo

TheLoneDart

Welcome to the jungle, where you either hunt or get hunted! Here, in the deepest reaches of the multiverse, the land is conquered by savages that hack and slash their prey to death before they even see what's coming. Are you prepared to step below the foliage and see what awaits?

Zoo is the archetype name given to aggro decks (usually gruul or naya) that have Wild Nacatl and Kird Ape in their 1-drop slots. These decks are characterized by explosive damage and have, over time, evolved to include Goblin Bushwhacker and Reckless Bushwhacker to help close out games. Basically we're playing a hyper aggro deck that ambushes opponents and aims for consistent turn 3 kills.
I have upgrades the spell package from a regular Zoo deck to include some toys that give this deck an edge. First of all we have Rite of Flame which pushes the deck into overdrive, sometimes enabling up to 10 damage on turn 1. How is this possible you ask? Rite of Flame gives us fast-mana that helps us flood the board with our creatures. Namely, if we have Burning-Tree Emissary in hand we can keep producing the mana necessary to drop more creatures, eventually ramping into Reckless Bushwhacker in our best-case scenario.

I have also added Boros Charm to the deck. All modes are applicable and beneficial to this deck - double strike for all creautres? indestructible for all creatures? 4 direct damage? it's the perfect tool for our strategy.

Lastly, but definitely not least importantly, we have Atarka's Command . This card gives us +1/+1 pump and a bolt to the opponent's face in order to help us take advantage of every single avenue we have to cram damage in.

As you can see this deck is designed to go fast and hit hard.

Our mana base consist of 18 lands, 12 of which are fetches.... Why you ask? The reason we're running our manabase at 2/3 fetches is because we need to thin the deck of lands so we have a better probability of drawing spells in order to support the aggro theme.

We're running dual lands Taiga and Plateau to support our colors, with one additional copy of Stomping Ground to fill the last spot for mana. The deck is red/green at heart, so there's a high emphasis on red/green lands to make sure we're playing consistently and on tempo.

With this deck we're looking to ground and pound. Ideally sequencing should be roughly as so: 1. play non-haste creature, 2. play haste creatures so all can attack, 3. playing bushwhackers to pump the board, 4. close out with spells.

If you have Rite of Flame in hand, you want to use it turn 1 or 2, depending on which will allow you to cast more spells. Sometimes it makes sense to play Kird Ape on turn 1 and save the Rite of Flame for turn 2 so you can drop another non-haste creature then use Rite of Flame into a bushwhacker.

Thanks for stopping to look at my deck. Please leave a +1 if you like it so other people on tappedout will see the deck as well! :) thanks again!
