Hi guys,I'm new to this site, but I thought I should upload my deck and ask what people thought, I have a fair degree of experience when it comes to TCGs, but I haven't been playing MtG that long.
I mostly love the art in MtG cards, and for inspiration of this deck, I went with one of my favourite movies, Princess Mononoke, because, lets face it, It's a great animated feature and has alot of awe inspiring wonder to it. So most of my Monsters are thematically based on the beasts and creatures from that.
First of all, I would like to thank ruler123455, He doesnt really know me, but His deck was the first deck I properly looked at and evaluated, since a fair few of mine and his cards from his "Red, white and Green?" Deck are the same as these, I thought I should just throw in citation so I dont step on any peoples toes.
So, the basic strategy for this deck is, quickly establishing your mana pool with the likes of Birds of Paradise -
Steward of Valeron
and Selvala, Explorer Returned (Lady Eboshi), then being able to spam summon through the likes of Genesis Hydra, Mayael the Anima (Princess Mononoke) and Using the Populate Mechanic, in order to gain board control and creating a great deal of pressure as early as possible with Voice of Resurgence (spirit of the forest) and Judge's Familiar.
Additional control, in the form of
Ajani Vengeant
and
Realm Razer
order to stifle their mana and
Moonhold
to reduce their creature and mana, Moonhold is better played early as possible.
I have thrown a few heavier Beatsticks in there, like the Godsire and a few others to help beef up the endgame potential, and added some support in the form of
Knight of New Alara
,
Rakeclaw Gargantuan
and Archetype of Endurance (Lord Akoto) to grant additional support.
This deck also has some lesser control elements, as I found that sometimes, as I am increasing my ranks, I struggle to keep my opponent in check. More on this in the sideboard, so you can chop and change when its harder to control other decks.
This deck is mostly Multi-coloured, just because I like the idea of multi-coloured cards lol. I have found I have struggled with a few mono-decks (mostly blue and black) but I put this largely down to my inexperience and the popularity of these types and their control at higher levels of play.
Feedback is appreciated, though it would be preferred if it was constructive.
