My Group of Friends and I decided to have a good old fashion Dragon stand off!

We each brought a Dragon Commander that everyone agreed fit with the playstyle and/or flavor of the decks they seem to play. For me... they decided Prossh would be a good fit for my Dragon Avatar. My group of friends are not cEDH players but are not exactly pulling any punches... so that allowed me to design this Prossh Deck in a way that felt would be fun (death by critters) without the need to go all in on the combo Food Chain in the tradition cEDH manor of playing Prossh. Of my current Deck selections at hand, I don't have any control decks. So I used this opportunity to give myself a little more verity. I decided to build this as a Combo-Control build with an emphasis on killing through a swarm or by Dragon after I have effectively stalled my opponents through removal long enough for my army to gather.

The general Run Down for this deck goes something like this:

  • Turn 1, we bring out the Dorks (I like to think they are Dark Elves)

  • Turn 2, we either hold mana for removal or laydown a token generator. There are a few other options for this turn if the situation seems to favor it.

  • Turn 3, We can continue with either of the plans from last turn, depending on how things are playing out or laydown one of our big Ramp spells.

  • Turn 4, at this point we can threaten the army of darkness's herald aka Prossh, Skyraider of Kher if we played T1 Dork & T3 Ramp.

  • Turn 5 & on will be a matter of how much control you had to play or if you draw into a Swarm finisher like Coat of Arms or Feed Prossh for the Voltron win using something like Embercleave

While playing with my friends, they have found this matchup an interesting challenge due to it's unpredictable outcome and ability to control there resources via the control spells. Prossh, Skyraider of Kher himself is known for his resiliency against control strats & he can go toe to toe with Aggroe strats. You will likely feel at times you are playing a token deck & other times feel you are playing Voltron then come out of no where with an Aristocrats win. This is the unpredictable and varied game play this build offers it's opponents and it's pilot. It does so without leaving the Pilot feeling like his deck is confused... the cards from all of these actually synergize really well in this deck because of the fact that Prossh sets up all three possibilities when you play him. You know which play will best suit you currently but your opponent is left guessing at what might be coming...
