First FNM — June 17, 2012

I tried the deck at the last FNM. Before play I made a last minute change to the deck, taking out 2 Plains and Forests for 4 Cavern of Souls, since I pulled one recently and 3 were being sold by the card shop I played at.

The deck did pretty well, it placed 3rd with 2 White human decks placing above it in a 5 round standard tournament. I had a 2-1 victory against a g/r wolf run deck, only losing the first match because I decided to stay with a somewhat bad hand and being to low on land. The second was a 2-0 win against a black/white human deck. The 3rd round was against the White human deck that placed first, who beat me 2-0. The 4th round ended in a close 2-1 victory against a g/w human and angel deck. In the final round I fought a black deck that relied on field control, life link, and flying creatures, which I won against 2-0.

The only thing that I am really worried about right now is the land base, as I am not sure taking out 2 of each basic land for the caverns was the best way to add them to the deck. I would love any feedback on how to optimize the land in this deck.
