Budget BW Exalted deck I made based on AjemanCinnajob's list you can find here. AC's deck is build to Standard in Innistrad/M13 rotation, but I used some pieces that are Modern legal to fit my taste.
This deck works better in 1x1, but in multiplayer games (playing alone, of course) it stabilishes a good presence in the board, and althought it doesn't use to win games, hurts every other player, which I found is really fun to do.
HOW TO PLAY WITH PROVOLONEXALTED
Pay attention to your starting hand and do not be afraid to mulligan. You can try to go on with even two lands. You have plenty of drop-1 fellas that will help you to start building your aggro:
Akrasan Squire
and
Duty-Bound Dead
are the cheapest way to start stacking Exalted triggers!
Tormented Soul
is unblockable and althought it can't block, you should be attacking with it every turn!
Aven Squire
and
Sigiled Paladin
are great two-drops: the first has flying, wich is a good evasion, the last has First Strike, wich is cool for both offense and defense! The double-white cost may hurt a little, but it's worth it.
Vampire Nighthawk
everyone's favorite vamp! Has flying to hit easier, has deathtouch (that keeps him away from being blocked) and has lifelink, that has good synergy with Exalted.
Sublime Archangel
is the best Exalted creature ever printed. When she lands is almost a garanteed hit-KO.
Spirit Mantle
will help you to get more evasion, if Tormented Soul is disabled.
Stave Off
is a nice trick to keep your creatures around.
A
Oblivion Ring
to get rid of pesky permanents;
Devouring Light
is neat to exile creatures, as you'll be only attacking with one, the others will be untapped to Convoke as a surprise.
Essence Harvest
can be the surprise fatal blow after your creature gets big enought with exalted triggers.
And last but not least, the landbase. 22 lands are running okay, althought I found I was playing with 62 cards in the deck. Cut it down to 60 and now need some more playing to decide it is ok. Running only two
Cathedral of War
s because the deck needs colored mana.
Sideboard is under work.
Notable exclusions:
Knight of Glory
and
Knight of Infamy
: Not synergistic with the auras and instants in the deck. (I'm not running Undying Evil nor Gruesome Deformity anymore so Glory may return to the deck someday)
Nefarox, Overlord of Grixis
: very mana intensive
Godless Shrine
and
Marsh Flats
: Out of budget
Gods Willing
,
Apostle's Blessing
and other Stave off variants: Read
Stave Off
carefully and see that you can use it in you opponent's creatures too, which can be handy for example againt Kiln Fiend.
Considering:
Vault Skirge
: Cheap, evasive body that can gain back some life.
