Before the suggestions start, just want to throw out there...I am preparing, but not ready, to cough up the dough for all the pain lands (Battlefield Forge,Shivan Reef) this deck really needs. So, until, then, temples will have to do. (which unfortunately means, no Elspeth, or rabblemaster, etc., though a Chandra or Ajani may be plausible).
My take on the new fan-dangled Jeskai deck. This deck has really taken on a burn theme, but I am always open to suggestions. I know is that currently I really enjoy playing this deck, but I am always looking for ways to improve. I guess the basic idea is to combo prowess with Satyr Firedancer and burn spells. This deck has a little bit of control element to it, but it should probably be refined.
The control- Banishing Light 3 drop exiling. Sure, lets get those going to get rid of big nastiness or pesky ascendancy, .
Jeskai Charm- multi-faceted charm allowing for damage to the face, spot removal, or boosting the prowess creatures.
If a big nasty does make it's way to damaging me, a Deflecting Palm will go a long way in keeping the hurt away while punishing the enemy. Deflecting Palm
+
Satyr Firedancer
is blistering to both the enemies face and creatures.
In the local meta, Crackling Doom is a real thing, which is the bane of my existence as it can easily get rid of my Narset, Enlightened Master. To balance against this, I added in Swan Song and Negate to deal with non-creatures. Swan Song has benefit of taking care of enchantment creatures, while Negate can send the pesky planeswalkers to the graveyard.
BURN- primarily, burning will be accomplished through Lightning Strike and Magma Jet. Magma Jet carries with it a very helpful scry2.
Stoke the Flames will be making an appearance in the deck, I just have to get them first.
Important Randoms- Jeskai Ascendancy doubled the prowess on my creatures, untaps them, and allows hand cycling. You really can't afford to not be running this card.
Flying Crane Technique- not everyone's favorite card I am aware. Sure, I may actually pay the 6 late game to attempt swinging in big (I mean with Jeskai Ascendancy out, that is +2/+2 to most of my creatures and +1/+1 to the rest), but really, I would be looking to cast this for "free" with Narset, Enlightened Master
+
Flying Crane Technique
.
The Creatures-
Monastery Swiftspear- 1/2 one-drop with haste and prowess...Get that stuff started fast.
Seeker of the Way- A two-drop bear with prowess and potential lifelink. That will come in handy.
Satyr Firedancer- You say a Satyr isn't welcome among monks? Perhaps he is a bit out of place here. But he will basically copy every burn spells I have and hit creatures in the face with it...so, for now, I would like to see how this works out.
Mantis Rider-A 3/3 three-drop with FLYING, VIGILANCE, and HASTE...yeah...lets get those guys going!
Narset, Enlightened Master- a pricey 3/2 for 6, but first strike and hexproof is nice. Also, exiling the top 4 cards and playing the non-creatures for free? That earns a spot on the starting line-up.
The sideboard is focused on boosting instants (I am looking at you Dauntless Onslaught and Titan's Strength) to make the deck a little more attack phase aggressive. This is also where I should side in some other control elements, but I want that control to be light weight (mana cost), and versatile. Thinking maybe Erase...I would like Chained to the Rocks but it may be too conditional with only 6 mountains.
So. that is what I have for now. Let me know what you think. Suggestions welcome!
