Greetings.

I always loved to play control decks, and somehow i'm always hoping to see mono black comeback as powerhouse from old school times.

My first deck ever when i didn't even knew what magic was really about or how to play it at competitive level, was mono-black with Black Knight , Hypnotic Specter, Dark Ritual and all cute old school stuff, at cheap level obviously after-all i was only a 9y old kid.

Later on when i grew up and start playing magic at more serious level, enabling to sustain myself with magic profit.

I managed to get my hands on a REAL Mono Black deck. Mirari , Cabal Coffers, Nantuko Shade , Mind Sludge , etc...Ohhh i was happy that day.

And now and then, every new expansion i try to bring to me that awesome feeling again knowing that it will never be the same again, but i just wanna feel that slight bit of happiness playing Mono-black.

Anyways, past my obvious fixation over Mono-Black Control.

Here i leave you a decklist that i came up with.This is very new and fresh decklist with the cards that caught my attention somehow.So a lot needs to be tested and improved, for sure.

Winning Conditions: Shrieking Affliction, Desecration Demon, occasionally Vampire Nighthawk and Rakdos's Return.

This is my 1st idea, it might be somehow short as strong winning conditions but let's start from here.

Other cards explanation:

Slaughter Games - This might be where most people will "finger" at and i understand that but let's think together.Every single deck has at least one major winning condition (except the aggro decks which what matters is how fast they can drop you).This at my eyes is a GREAT thing to have in main deck, because once you know the decklists at their finest you can get ride of a really annoying card on 1st game where most other people won't be able to.Target's i can think off straight out of the bat.

UW Miracles - Entreat the Angels , Tamiyo, the Moon Sage.

Reanimator (and affiliations) - Angel of Serenity, Griselbrand

Jund - Thragtusk, Garruk, Primal Hunter, Garruk Relentless  .

Not to mention other control Decks and/or possible combo decks.Angel of Glory's Rise, Epic Experiment.

So unless "meta game" goes wildly into Aggro decks, highly doubt i will give up on Slaughter Games .

Curse of Death's Hold - I found this card quite interesting. Been playing with it in other couple of decks and it can shutdown Zombies and Tokens mainly. Still testing it out, why not.

Vampire Nighthawk - This card has 2 purposes. Minor winning condition and tempo against aggro decks.

Liliana of the Veil - Great synergy with Shrieking Affliction plus a great control card, removal (great agaisnt Hexproof) and discard forcing players to play what they buy once hand empty.

Vraska the Unseen - My plan started with Ramp BG control deck but i decided to try out a "more purist" version. I was missing a card and i decided to try this out along with Abrupt Decay altho they aren't in main at the moment.

Every other card is pretty straight forward and doesn't much to explain about it.

Other possibilities:

Underworld Connections

Staff of Nin

Barter in Blood

Sever the Bloodline

Olivia Voldaren

Shimian Specter

Bloodline Keeper  

And there also the possibility to get Red removal altho i doubt it.

I won't mention anything about Sideboard at the moment since i'm still at testing phases with Maindeck to understand where my problem rely with this set of cards and work around it and tweak it up and then fill some gaps with sideboard.

Updates Add

So after a couple/few games i decided to make some changes.

-1 Forest and -2 Mountain for +3 Woodland Cemetery

Necessary change to match replacements on Maindeck with more G dependent cards.

Outputs:

-4 Shrieking Affliction // they weren't working as intended being useless most of the time.

-4 Duress // didn't felt the need to discard any major card from hand that i couldn't control already in-game.

-2 Murder // no special reason to replace this cards but had to make room for another kind of removal.

-2 Desecration Demon // weak vs tokens (there are a lot of decks that can easily lock it down.

-1 Rakdos's Return // Didn't felt the need to draw more then one copy per game, altho it can be used as finisher which isn't the case and it's pretty awful vs Aggro decks.

Inputs:

+1 Mutilate // 4x of them to make sure an early 4th/5th turn table swipe vs aggro.

+1 Curse of Death's Hold // The feedback on this card was incredibly great. More the Awesome vs Tokens while also useful vs Aggro.

+1 Underworld Connections // Another draw source.

+3 Rakdos Keyrune // GREAT vs Thragtusk and very useful to ramp plus can be used as finisher.

+2 Olivia Voldaren // Liked how it behaved vs other decks. Works great with Curse of Death's Hold. And its great vs Reanimator.

+1 Vraska the Unseen // Needed it for more non creature permanents control such as enchantments and artifacts (keyrunes) and still great vs creatures.

+3 Abrupt Decay // Another removal vs Aggro decks and still great vs Detention Sphere, Oblivion Ring and Keyrunes in general.

+1 Elixir of Immortality // Been playing vs some Milling decks and it is great vs Aggro/Burn, since i already lose a decent amount of life either with Overgrown Tombfoil, Blood Cryptfoil or early turns vs Aggro. It's just 1 tech card that is there. If it comes out, great it can save you. There is no downside using this card when you still face aggro decks despite the existence of milling or not. And i don't play with graveyard so having it or not its the same for me.

This seems a very decent based structure of the deck now that a have a good amount of games with it on my backs with positive feedback from it.

Next step is working on sideboard which is will post it soon after analysis which can be dropped out vs X/Y or Z matchups.
