Introductory post here: PYROMANTIC VALUE, a (very budget) QUEST MAGIC deck

My journey started in Ravnica doing a contract for our dear friend and Modern staple Liliana of the Veil who sent me to meet her contact in the Dimir sewers. But first I had to fight on the draw against a COMBAT - Boros Patrol. They mulled to 5 due to no lands, I mulled to 6 due to too many lands. They started with a guildmage and attacked with it on turn 3, I played a magmatic Channeler and didn't dare block fearing a combat trick which wasn't worth the risk imo as I had two Chandra's Phoenix in my hand to discard. I didn't feel like wasting my Moonglove Extract either. Next turn I get a lucky Abbot of Keral Keep into Firebolt and my opponent flooded out while I accumulated insane value due to Magmatic Channeler. I also played Fated Conflagration on their Sunhome Enforcer which made me happy I didn't cut the card for a looting effect after all. I hadn't seen the giant since drafting Ravnica which was very nostalgic. He was an absolute bomb back then!

Gained some exp and an Elixir of Immortality as a reward. At first I thought this artifact (meaning you start the game with it) was insane as it didn't remain in the graveyard after sacrificing itself, but my friend reminded me that only artifacts in hand and on the battlefield can be put back into the backpack. Makes sense, gaining 5 life at basically no cost at the end of each combat would've been op for sure. I'll likely use it at some point, but due to my Chandra's Phoenix and Firebolt I need to be careful with the timing.

On my way to the sewers, I gave a Loxodan beggar a coin which happened to restore my life back to full. Yay!

Heading directly into the sewers, I met Jace who gave me another contract: Finding Venser, the Sojourner on the plane of Dominaria. He told me to make haste, but I wanted to take a look around beautiful Ravnica first. Heading deeper into the sewers I headed towards the Gogordan lair. Feeling confident with my deck at first I remembered the preparation round rule this RPG has and quickly reconsidered going deeper. At least I found a thief who would steal glasses protecting from the Gogordan gaze if I gave him a scroll of Jump. If I did, he'd also help me transmute artifacts, so I'm looking forward to that one. I remember artifacts being very nice to have to smooth out your curve as you start the game with them. Since this game is about 10 years old I can't expect some of the newer haymakers like Shadowspear, but I hope I'll be able to pick up a Grafted Wargear for my phoenix and elemental tokens at some point.

Visiting the Simic Medical Lab I purchased a Vial of Poison for 3 gold which seems nice to have with my elemental tokens and phoenixes that I'm more than willing to sacrifice for the greater (meaning my) good at some point.

Taking a look at the Rakdos brothel I saw that having fun was only 1 gold! That seemed a bargain for sure. And all at the expense of the uptight Boros patrol I defeated earlier, oh the irony! The Bloodcrazed Neonate rewarded me with 10exp and a poison counter. At first I thought the latter was due to the girl being a vampire, but in hindsight that made no sense and was way more likely having to do with the to burn in my crotch. Well, given the theme of my deck this only seemed fitting, so I didn't bother with healing just yet.

Saving the most interesting for last, I was heading towards the Orzhov black market where I could purchase weapons and armor. The latter was pretty disappointing as all shield and armor needed 3 mana to equip which was way too expensive for my liking. But at the weapons shop I purchased a Bone Saw for just 5 gold which seemed perfect for when I had a spare mana at the end of my turn.

The rest of the city seemed locked to me for now, so I headed back to the sewers and planeswalked to Dominaria to seek out Venser.

This is where we ended our first session. This one included a lot of talking, setting up and organizing on how to setup the board so I could see it, but not the cards, in the end he just shared the screen and had overlays (don't ask me how exactly, he set it all up). Despite only having one fight I'm already very excited for the next sessions. My deck seems to work very well so far and the reactive nature as well as the scrying and exiling means it can be very exciting to play as there's lots of decisions every turn. I'll eventually have to go bigger as my opponents will get more and more preparation rounds, but for now I'm very happy with the deck in its current form.

My stats at the end of the session were the following:
