I hate removal... So much so I am willing to build this anti removal deck to tell people to stfu, I'm playing my creatures and they are staying right where they are.
Looking for recommendations including how to shift some of the maybe board stuff into the deck.
Idea of the deck is to draw through the deck for
Sagu Mauler
or Gaea's Revenge and land him with the support of counter spells. Once he lands, he should support himself until you can swing through your opponent's defenses.
the card selection is pretty straight forward.
Beaters:
Gaea's Revenge - hasty damage that will be felt, and since green doesn't have much in the way of removal, this guy is bound to do some damage.
Sagu Mauler
- trample to get that key damage in to your opponent's face, hexproof to keep it coming turn after turn.
Mistcutter Hydra
- another beater that refuses to be slowed, effective throughout the game
Managorger Hydra - if left unchecked, he'll grow out of control and trample through a finish, otherwise he makes a good lightning rod and spell casting deterrent.
Support:
Elvish Mystic - get that turn 1 ramp while it's still around.
Sylvan Caryatid - tried and true anti aggro, mana fixing, and hexproof for those people who like to kill mana dorks...
Courser of Kruphix - more ramp, life gain, anti aggro, and another lightning rod for removal.
Prognostic Sphinx
- scry me a river so I can get my revenge mauler, also a small barrier vs dragons
Prophet of Kruphix - untapping and flash are nice additions, also helps keep counter mana up against those pesky boardwipes
Stubborn Denial, Negate,
Dissolve
- gotta keep away the board wipes that I know someone will try to play
Kiora, the Crashing Wave
- a bit of defensive measures in case someone tries to push damage back on me. minus is also good for the ramp and krakens if I ever get that far.
Anticipate - draw fixing, always a good plan
sideboard:
Skyreaping
vs dragons to wipe them out (including that hexproof Dragonlord Ojutai), debating vs
Windstorm
, but I like that it costs significantly less and would allow me mana for something like Negate in case my opponent tries to counter it.
AEtherspouts - vs goblins/elves to push them back
Calculated Dismissal
- counter spell vs goblins since they probably will not have the mana to counter it after casting a Goblin Rabblemaster or
Goblin Piledriver
, the concern is other counter spells that hit creatures require in their casting cost vs this one.
Stubborn Denial - additional ones in case of boardwipe-happy people
Dissipate
- to go along with
Dissolve
in case of things like Shaman of the Pack or a possible return of Gray Merchant of Asphodel
Nylea's Disciple
- because life gain and a big butt it was effective vs burn/aggro
more to come...
please +1 if you like and leave feedback if you think it can be better, sideboard tech also appreciated.
