Goal: Lose friends with a combo of Chalice of the Void and Blood Moon double control strategies over top mono-black midrange set up for Chalice. T2 Chalice at 1 and then T3 Blood Moon should make your opponents quite irritated. It should be rare that both control strategies are ineffective. Obviously some decks won't mind Blood Moon so much, but Chalice will likely be key in those, while others like mid-range likely won't be bothered by Chalice.

Did some fine tuning on this after working on other decks for a couple months. Most particularly I put all of the Chalice's in the sideboard. They are relatively hit or miss compared to Blood Moon. Chalice can only really be set out against 0 and 1 CMC stuff in this build, often just forcing opposing decks into a mid-range battle against my mid-range deck. But Blood Moon messes people up from start to finish. That said, Chalice will bring deck types like Death's Shadow, Burn, and a few others to a screeching halt.

Smoothed out the curve on the creatures, added Bob's, as well as put the life gain back in with some vampires to keep Dark Confidant under control. It's amazing what even a little lifelink can do to screw with some aggro style deck plans and get you to the stabilized mid phase Also added some very key 1 cmc targeted discard. Concluded you just can't do an effective mono-black without some. The plan is to SB them out for the Chalice set when it's required. Decks with lots of 0 and 1 cmc to block are often partly pointless to target discard against since they move so quick.

Also went with Canyon Slough for three of the red sources in place of Blood Crypts. When I need the one red mana on the spot (like a T3 moon) there is one Blood Crypt, but the cycling really helps with dead mana draws in the key mid and late phases, where this deck can be one nasty creature drop or removal from a win, and I've had to kill off Bob to save my life total.

All in all, this version seems to hum way better than my earlier revisions. I will probably try it this Friday if the Slough's get here in time.
