-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Rakdos' Big Comeback-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Isn't it time that Rakdos, Lord of Riots found a home in standard? Well folks you've found it here! A deck built around Rakdos and his guild buddies!
---------Card Overview---------
Critters:
Rakdos Cackler
: This quick aggressive 1 drop gives us a 2/2 to go on the offensive! What is there not to like?
Stromkirk Noble: This 1 drop brings a large threat to the table. If left unchecked, he will wreak havoc on our opponent dealing increasing damage over time. Also, those pesky Naya Humans decks (cough cough The Power of Burning Humans) can't block this guy! There's no way you could lose a race there!
Lightning Mauler
: Alright, I love this card. We get an aggressively costed creature with a 2/1 body as well as the ability to give any one of our creatures haste in the future meaning that our 3 or 4 drops (Rakdos, Lord of Riots) will have an immediate board impact. Or we can put it on a Vampire Nighthawk to get a quick life gain that could save our skins! Again, a perfect card for a red-deck.
Knight of Infamy
: Here we have it, I didn't think it could get better than Lightning Mauler, but I was mistaken! This card is the bane of all white decks (which is quite a common color nowadays) thus it is hard to remove via
Orzhov Charm
and
Selesnya Charm
and pretty much is only vulnerable to burn and black... Pretty strong if you ask me. Strap on exalted and you have yourself an outstanding 2 drop! Now our Stromkirk Noble will hit for 2 on turn 2, or our Cacklers for 3!
Vampire Nighthawk: This card does it all folks! It is flying, it has lifelink, it has deathtouch, and it's only 3 mana! This card lets us get damage by in the air (to summon Rakdos) or to block and gain life in the process! It's deathtouch allows it to take out much larger creatures that might appear on our opponents side of the board. The double black on this card is the main reason for the swamp and mountain balance in this deck.
Hellhole Flailer
: A strong body for 3 mana. Add on the threat of its self-destruct and you have yourself a late game win-condition! Not much more to say about this one... It's what it seems
Rakdos, Lord of Riots: All right, here he is: Rakdos. You gotta love this card. A 6/6 Giant flying trampling demon that kills your opponents and if you still have things in your hand, it lets you dump them out onto the field ASAP! He's a big win-con as he's hard to block and allows us to play more creatures to help us win better/faster! Viva Rakdos!
---------Spells---------
Dreadbore
: For 2 mana you can now remove anything. Pretty self-explanatory this lets us take out threats, blockers, and anything else that moves! (Not indestructible or hexproof things... we just ignore those and overrun 'em)
Searing Spear: It's burn, it's removal, it's perfection! 2 mana for 3 damage! I'll take 4!
Brimstone Volley
: It's super burn! Let something die (or kill something) and you can burn your opponent for 5 damage to the face! Often times enough to end a game, or certainly turn up the pressure I'll take 3 of these to burn my opponent but it's a little too conditional to take 4 in my opinion.
Ultimate Price: Alright, a bit more limited removal not quite as reliable in all match-ups. Definitely something that can be sideboarded out or in depending on the enemy deck, but usually there will be something for this to kill. More cheap removal!
----------In Conclusion----------
Overall this deck packs removal and strong aggressive creatures in hopes of making quick work of your opponent! Look forward to a future addition of Sire of Insanity for more havoc wreaking fun!
