Hi and welcome to my Commander build for Tatyova, Benthic Druid.

This is supposed to be a focused to optimized deck on a power level around 6 or 7 out of 10. It is meant to be played in a mixed environment at my LGS with a shuffled group of experienced and new players and to provide a fun game for everyone.

The deck strategy is to ramp as much as you can and draw as many cards as possible. Tatyova, Benthic Druid helps a lot by doing the second while we do the first. Although we play some threats to put some pressure onto our opponents during the game, our actual main plan is to draw our whole deck and win using Laboratory Maniac. To ensure we get to that point we bring a lot of counter magic, removal and a nice recursion package that allows us to replay the other stuff. Especially Reap deserves some glory; the card has won me quite some games during the last years. Our massive draw engine also helps a lot to stay ahead of our opponents regarding the resource advantage and therefore to outlast them.

The challenge I gave myself while building this deck was obviously to avoid the use of cards in the rare and mythic rare category. I wanted to test if it is possible to build a serious deck without it having 50 or more rare cards doing the main work. Even though we are missing the main Simic payouts and all the good landfall cards, I would say the result is a success. The deck performs very consistently and wins more often than one would expect.

I hope you like the list and find it useful for your own builds. Maybe it even inspires you to try out your own version of a Tatyova, Benthic Druid Commander deck. Perhaps also without rare Cards? If you build one, please leave me a link.
