About two years ago I started to play EDH, I fell in love with the idea of getting free casts off of Rashmi, Eternity Crafter. Iteration after iteration saw her fail to stick on the board..

Repeatedly I tried to mix it up, I went through experiments with enchantments to avoid being wiped so frequently. However, it kept happening that I couldn't keep recasting Rashmi. I tried out a more big mana style, and found I would run out of gas it some games where Rashmi still couldn't stick.

Now, after constant retooling, and months of trading for only Rashmi foils, I've got this mean control deck. It was such a slow transformation, but it has become very formidable against any playgroup that just lets me have a free round with her.

Essentially, I look to quick ramp for a t2-3 Rashmi. This usually allows me to get off another ramp or draw effect plus her trigger whilst being uncontested. Then, the free value will build up my hand or board.

From this point, I try to be reactionary and pick political ways to 'help', however, it tends to be me fighting to keep my board state. The draw spells and counters are to keep the value train moving. two cycles around the board usually builds me a handful of lines to choose from. The goal is to generate enough card advantage to power ahead of my opponents. This phase is trying to get me to:

Rashmi's Ultimate! I'm looking to stick Stasis with Nissa, Vital Force or Kiora, master of depths on the field. This way I reserve mana production whilst many others just become starved of resources. This buys me time to collect more cards, ideally something like Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I can also utilize Gush or Daze to get some lands back in a pinch to keep the detention going. If all goes well, I tend to produce obscene card advantage, via Rashmi's machinations, by the time the lock comes off.

Alternatively, I'm hoping to set up a Counterbalance + Sensei's Divining Top soft lock to put pressure on my opponents and to have some mind game fun. Overall, it has proven to be somewhat disappointing, but it does demand everyone's attention. Many players have just stopped casting to wait out someone else removing it. This is a dream for me as I buy myself time to set up more walkers, draw more cards, and get more good Rashmi vibes.

My final backup plan, and newest additions, are to use Bribery and Treachery to go with a beater approach. My groups lends itself more to combo, but every now and then I can grab an Avacyn, Angel of Hope. The Treachery is especially nice from underneath Stasis or leading up to it. Sometimes my dwindling life, (thus I haven't cut Tatyova, Benthic Druid or Courser of Kruphix yet), is a concern and getting a reliable blocker is nice.

I've tried to move away from any specific combos. Previously, cards like Peregrine Drake, Palinchron, and Dead-eye Navigator were used. I more like the idea of trying to assemble a soft lock as I feel it is flavorful with Rashmi's character. I also didn't enjoy winning that way. playing navigator along Venser and snake meant I could usually counter anything dangerous to my board. It's diminished fun for the group and thus I've removed them. I try to up-sell this in-game to twist myself into being an ally of the table. There's always a combo player somewhere, and I seek to oppose them!

Overall, I feel the deck is powerful, and fun to play. Now, my playgroup is pretty quick to respond to my board, but I don't find my self suffering too much. It's just fun to play the cards I have. I love setting up my deck at instant speed to pull out a counter-spell or trick from out of nowhere. I also love being focused as it forces me to puzzle out the best course to survive the tables advance.

In the future, I've considered taking this general idea into some sort of Lantern type control deck. Utilizing Field of Dreams and Lantern of Insight. The field could be nice as it would incentivize players going after someone sandbagging an infinite combo. As of now, I don't feel the support is there.

If you have stuck with me this far, big shout out to the Discord community and Pucatrade, link for those who don't know about it( https://pucatrade.com/nexus ). Two years ago this was an impossible pipe dream for me to complete. There's too many to name individually, but if any of you catch a glimpse and see a card you set me, give yourself a shout-out in the comments, it'd be cool to put some names to some of the cards! I regret not being more organized and doing it during construction.

Hope you enjoyed my breakdown. Apologies for my poor formatting, I'm rather new to Tapped Out. Any tips appreciated! I'll come back one day and try do headings and clean up my paragraphs.
