The basic idea is to get Kiln Fiend online then pump him up with Reverberate and/or Pyretic Ritual and burn. Ball Lightning, Plated Geopede, Searing Blaze, Teetering Peaks, Arid Mesa, Scalding Tarn and lots of burn provide the backup plan.
With this build I'm trying out subbing Ball Lightning for Staggershock in the 3-drop spot as they seem to play along with Pyretic Ritual a little better, but we'll keep a couple of Staggers in the sideboard just in case. Hey, can't complain about a 2nd round Ball Lightning! I'm really enjoying the synergy that Kiln Fiend and Ball Lightning have with Pyretic Ritual. As mentioned before, Plated Geopede and Searing Blaze round out the 2-drop slot.
So this was crazy: during some initial playtesting, one of my friend's U/W control deck stalled out for the first 2 turns and I managed to swing for lethal on the 3rd with a Goblin Guide, Ball Lightning, and a seriously pumped up Kiln Fiend for 23 total damage! (in all fairness he should have mulliganed).
This deck feels like it's headed in the right direction, but can be a little slow from time to time. Ideally, we should be swinging for lethal by turn 4 and sometimes turn 3. Trying to identify where to tweak is the tricky part.
Also, dumped the traditional RDW Hellspark Elemental/Hell's Thunder duo as I'm trying to ween myself off of them since they will be rotating out of Standard soon (well, I don't expect a reprinting in Scars).
Sideboard hasn't seen as much playtesting yet and, as such, needs some work (in that, I'm kinda stabbing in the dark at it currently). An idea inspired by Hugh Raynor's Goblin Insurance deck is adding Goblin Arsonist to the sideboard for the mirror. Dunno.
