Round 1:Played against some weird Zoo variant. it was running oath of Nissa as a green ponder, Nacatyls, Kird Apes, Grims, and Burning trees. Game 1 I was on the play and got there by turn 4. Game 2 he put himself to 18 by fetching, I got in once with a guide to get him down to 16. and in a turn in a half POP for 6, untap, POP for 6, fireblast for 16. Boarded in 3 searing blaze, out 3 spikes.
Round 2: Miracles: Relatively new player with the deck. Got there game 1 by literally emptying his hand of counter magic with everything I had in mine and then proceeded to grim him to death till he found a removal spell and then I used barbarian ring. Game 2 he mulls to 5, i mull to 6. He turn 1 top, turn 2 counter balance turn 3 mentor and turn 4 2nd top. I lose. Game 3. He mulls to 6 I keep. I put out 2 goblin 1 after the other. Then he plays counter balance. I play shusher. He makes the rookie mistake of after counter balance fails to counter my POP he goes to FoW pitching a FoW to counter. To which I simply activate shusher for the win. boarded in 2 shusher and 1 Exquisite firecraft. Out 3 lava spikes
Round 3: D&T: I absolutely hate this matchup. I'm on the play and get stomped game 1 by stoneblades and a sword of F&I and a batterskull. Game 2: I turn 1 guide. He turn 1 vial. I turn 2 smash the vial. He turn 2 stoneblade. I searing blaze it. Game goes in my favor from there with me the victor. Game 3: He mulls to 5 I keep. Just doesn't develop for him. Bad breaks. boarded in 2 smash, 2 ensnaring bridge, 3 searing blaze. Out 4 spikes, 2 eidolon, 1 barb ring.
Round 4: Pox: Game 1 and 2 are pretty much identical. He plays hymns and duress. I have a hand full of gas and got 2 guides out within the first 2 turns. Don't think it went past turn 4-5 each game. 2-0 Boarded in 3 pillars, out 1 fireblast 2 vortex
Cut to top 4:
Round 1: The same D&T player as round 3. I'm on the play. comes to a time in game 1 where I have vortex in play. he has a wingmare and thalia with 2 mothers and an avenger. I have no creatures 2 fireblast in hand and a chain lighting with 5 lands. I being barb ring without threshold. His life is eleven I am at 10 on my turn. I cast chain lightning targeting him paying 3 cuz of tax. move to his turn he goes to 6. he swings for 8 leaving a mother untapped. During my upkeep with vortex on the stack I blast him to death. Game 2: He mulls to 5. I get my top out and both ensnaring bridges, He scoops when I get him to 6. Same board as above.
The other guy and I chop the finals.
I absolutely LOVE this build that's more about being reactive instead of trying to go for the turn 3 constantly. Yeah the turn 3 is a thing and hard for a lot of decks to keep up with but when they stop a piece of it, you're left top decking and just losing a lot.
