This is a deck I build about a year ago, and it gave me a lot of use so far. It's also almost doubled in price. The total cost for this deck is around $180. However, it is the fastest deck I've ever seen. In many cases, the opponent will be at 10 life by the end of turn 2. In this deck, some modifications can be made, but the core cards are Vexing Devil, Goblin Guide, Lightning Bolt, Lava Spike, and Ball Lightning. The Spark Elemental and Hellspark Elemental are also quite useful. This is not so much a combo deck as it is a "deal as much damage in the shortest amount of time possible" deck. I ran an earlier version in a PTQ and beat 2 Tarmogoyf-Wurmcoil Engine-Emrakul, the Aeons Torn decks and 2 other kinds. If you're planning on running serious modern, but don't want to waste $800 on a playset of Tarmogoyfs, this is a fine choice. As I said, the deck is flexible in some areas, but those cards are vital to fast damage-dealing. This can be one hell of an annoying deck if run properly. In the opening hand, it's best to have 2 lands. Always play the Vexing Devil first if you have him, and use Rift Bolt s before using Lava Spike and Lava Spike before Lightning Bolt. Get Spark Elemental and Hellspark Elemental out before the opponent gets blockers, and use Lightning Bolt to take out growing cards like Tarmogoyf. Have fun!
