Thunderbreak Regent of course! Based on Nande's deck and the deck I played back in BFZ block standard, before the SOI rotation.

The deck performed admirably at the first Frontier Tournament organized by Le Beginner. .

The Matches

  • 2-1 against The Great Aurora deck. The games went very long, since he always regained his full life total. Goblin Rabblemaster was the MVP of the deck, since The Great Aurora counts all permanents and tokens count.

  • 2-0 against Naya Superfriends. Didn't see much of the deck game one, destroying all his creatures as they came out and using my reusable 5-mana Kill target Planeswalker spell (AKA Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury). Game 2 was harder: since I didn't see his other 'walkers, I sided against a creature deck. Thransgress the Mind would have helped a lot: I had to use 3 burn spells to kill Dragonlord Dromoka. He also used Nahiri, the Harbinger's ultimate, forgetting I had an Authority of the Consul on board, making his Dragonlord Atarka coming in tapped. It all came down to a Thalia, Heretic Cathar he played on Chandra, Torch of Defiance +1. If he hadn't, he would have forced me to try and dash Kolaghan in for lethal (I assumed he had removal, correctly). By doing this, he allowed me to Draconic Roar and Crackling Doom for lethal.

  • 2-1 against Atarka Red. He got game one easily, and scooped to my first Thunderbreak Regent on game 2. Game 3, we both had good hands, but I was able to remove his creatures and land a Thunderbreak Regent as a blocker. He manaed to get in for a lot of damage of an Atarka's Command into a Reckless Bushwacker, but lost two creatures in the attack. I landed a Virulent Plague rendering his Hordeling Outbursts useless.

  • 2-0 against Dark Jeskai. Frankly, didn't see much of his deck. He was struggling with his mana base game 1, and, while game 2 lasted longer, he simply couldn't deal with the Regents (never drew his Crackling Doom). We played a friendly game afterwards, which I won again, despite him having me at 32-2 life points at some point.
