The idea is to fill your grave with lands, things with retrace, and threats that can be dredged up or reanimated. Then, retrace
Syphon Life
for a continuous burn or swarm with
Worm Harvest
. If that doesn't work, I have plenty of creatures that return from the grave that would love to beat face.
Card Purposes:
Life from the Loam
: pretty self-explanatory... the idea is to mill cards with retrace and Vengeful Pharaoh into the graveyard to gain me resources and protect me. Combos amazingly with
Worm Harvest
and Raven's Crime. Also nets me the crucial Ghost Quarters I need.
Raven's Crime: to wreck decks that think they can hold anything in their hand against me. With
Life from the Loam
constantly filling my hand with lands, I can cast it multiple times in a turn and just destroy control decks as well as disrupt aggro.
Vengeful Pharaoh: hit me, I dare you. Since I'll be destroying lands, I only need protection from early-game threats. Since I'll be dredging anyway, he's perfect.
Smallpox: more land destruction, but also to pitch
Life from the Loam
and Vengeful Pharaoh.
Sylvan Scrying: fetch Ghost Quarter or Dakmore Salvage for help with control or dredge. If mana screwed, fetch
Woodland Cemetery
or
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
.
Golgari Brownscale: a creature that I can get back to my hand every time he dies in exchange for more mill (thus feeding the rest of my deck engine) and recovering early-game damage. Not bad. Plus, I can beat people with him once all their mana base is destroyed and they can't do anything else anymore.
Bojuka Bog: Oh? You like your graveyard too? gone have fun with that! You want to Elixir of Immortality your way to safety? Good luck. You will be milled, or you will be punched.
Worm Harvest
: by the end of the game, I can average about 9-14 worm tokens. With
Life of the Loam
filling my hands with lands for the retrace ability, I can keep doing that indefinitely. 9 worms a turn is all I need to make any deck cringe.
Stinkweed Imp: his most important attribute is his Dredge 5, which fills my graveyard faster than any other card in the deck, giving me more access to future cards for the next turn. However, he is an awesome blocker that can act as an additional removal spell. Not bad.
Smallpox: Perfect setup... Turn 2 I pitch a
Life from the Loam
, remove an enemy creature, and sacrifice Dakmor Salvage. Either that, or I pitch
Bloodghast
and get him back next turn.
Syphon Life
: Heal from early damage and burn your opponent to death. Sounds like my primary win-con.
Necroplasm: wrecks most token decks and is the best response I could think of so far to stop aggro. Additionally, it's another dredge card that can help me fill my grave and it's a creature that can reach a decent 4/4 size before his own effect kills him.
