RG Werewolves for Magic Duels

Magic Duels Werewolf

Working on a green/red werewolves deck for Magic Duels.

  1. Deck is fun to play.
  2. I'm sure the mana is totally wrong. 23 lands may be too light. I'm thinking 24 or 25 might be better, but I don't really know the math. Timber Gorge also stinks, but there aren't any better options for this deck. I might even consider not running any of them - tap lands destroy this deck on turn 2+. I used to run 4 Timber Gorge , but then I'd sometimes draw 2 or 3 of them, and I'd lose the game because of it. I sure wish Game Trail was accessible. I'm sort of baffled that it isn't.
  3. Deck is really weak to flyers, but Savage Alliance and all of the burn can help, if you draw them that is. If they add in some bounce/tempo type of stuff, just expect to lose.
  4. Exquisite Firecraft can be used instead of Collective Defiance - it doesn't matter that much, as both cards are similar. I do think if you can escalate it though, Collective Defiance comes out on top.
  5. Sylvan Advocate might just be better than Timberpack Wolf - more power early, but less synergy later on, but still big enough that maybe it doesn't matter.
  6. Greenwarden of Murasa is so awesome and can get back key werewolves or removal, that maybe it should be included. I have tried the card in the deck, and getting 3-for-1's just seems too good. The only argument against it is that the deck only contains 23 lands, so can you realistically support this card? I don't know the answer to that.
  7. I don't know why people dislike Arlinn Kord   in paper magic. The card is so awesome in this deck. Every time I draw her, she does something amazing for my game plan and/or board-state. I only wish Duskwatch Recruiter   didn't cycle her to the bottom. That seems like a flavour fail.
  8. Howlpack Resurgence is one of the best cards in the deck. It's like Always Watching in this deck, but trample kills your opponents faster, you can use it to help flip your werewolves by casting this on your opponent's turn, and it doubles as a combat trick when you need to be. On top of that, you can actually run 3 copies! GR Werewolves wouldn't really be a deck without this card.
  9. Other than an early Timberpack Wolf , the deck isn't that weak to Goblin Arsonist , which I find really annoying to play against.
  10. 5-Toughness flyers or gigantic ground creatures are your enemy. Hope you have a wide board to race, a burn spell to 2-for-1 yourself, or lots of anthems. Good luck!
