If you had a dope-ass From the Vault Rith, the Awakener , wouldn't you want to make an EDH deck to show her off?

I'm no fool though, I know a 6 mana creature with no protection and that doesn't affect the board isn't exactly on anyone's watchlist, so that's why I made this deck to rely less on it's commander than most others. It isn't a race to get Rith out; play her when you're comfortable, or desperate, or just let her glower disapprovingly at your opponents from the command zone all game. It's all gooood.

The game here is to go wide with saprolings (or, infrequently, soldiers). You accomplish this with creatures that generate them quickly, like Tana, the Bloodsower or Tendershoot Dryad , more gradually like Mycologist or Utopia Mycon , or one shot spells Saproling Migration . If these little tokens can chip away for damage, great, but more likely you will be hoarding them to maximize your "number of creatures matter" cards like Shanna, Sisay's Legacy , Sigil of the Nayan Gods , etc. If you aren't hoarding them, they'll graciously offer themselves up for a variety of neat effects: card draw ( Skullclamp , Psychotrope Thallid ), protecting more valuable creatures ( Fanatical Devotion , Martyr's Cause ), or my personal favourite, destroying lands ( Shivan Harvest ). There are other options as well if you peruse the list.

Since this is not a fast deck, you'll want to look for opportunities to be disruptive, mostly in the form of artifact and enchantment destruction. A well timed Seed Spark or Artifact Mutation both advances your agenda and sets back your opponent's greasy combo by a couple turns.
