Apart from being an awesome music player, Roon is also a great commander! This is my take at Roon of the Hidden Realm.

Origin

This Bant blink deck was the first Commander Deck I made, actually before Roon existed. I really liked playing Astral Slide decks during the Onslaught block, so when I started playing commander, I wanted to make an ETB blink board control deck that had a similar feel to it. I started out with Rafiq of the Many, just to get the Bant colors. However, I obviously switched to Roon when Wizards decided to bring us this mighty gift!

Deck Premise

The deck started out as a heavy board-control deck. It was slowly but surely creating a board position using blink effects and ETB creatures to a point where you can control almost every aspect of the board. That control-heavy version wasn't always fun to play against because it had trouble finishing games. Now the deck has more ways to win and has other avenues to gameplay than only blinking creatures all the time.

The board control game plan is still present in today's version, albeit with a little less emphasis. With many our cards we want to influence our opponent's board state or increase our options to do so. For this reason, cards like Avenger of Zendikar or Armada Wurm are absent here. That core is complemented with Eternal Witness and Birthing Pod based engines to either enhance that board control capability or to find a way to win the game.

Pod and Witness engines

The current build complements classic ETB synergies with these 2 engines:

1. Ghostway/Eerie Interlude + Eternal Witness/Timeless Witness. This combination of cards allows you to blink and protect all your creatures every turn. This is a great turtle shell and lets you control the game or protect your board state until you're ready to win (it was the core of an old legacy deck called "Ghostway Surprise").
2. Birthing Pod based effects. These allow us to find key pieces and also rebuy our ETB effects through recursion instead of blinking, like Karmic Guide or Luminous Broodmoth. And untap effects such as Kiora's Follower allow us to use a Pod multiple times a turn, while also working well with Roon. Pod effects are also great for assembling one of the infinite combo routes in this deck.

Combos

The combos included all require at least 3 cards to keep this deck at the intended power level.

• Peregrine Drake + Deadeye Navigator/Emiel the Blessed = infinite mana. Add Guardian Project to draw into something like Venser, Shaper Savant or Agent of Treachery to completely remove our opponents' boards.
• Lightning Greaves/Thousand-Year Elixir + Bloom Tender/Faeburrow Elder + Deadeye Navigator/Emiel the Blessed is infinite ETBs. With deadeye, or if you've managed to steal a red or black permanent with something like Gilded Drake, you now also have infinite mana. This line also works with Ghostway/Eerie Interlude if you have Eternal Witness/Timeless Witness out.
• Great Oak Guardian + Bloom Tender/Faeburrow Elder + Deadeye Navigator/Emiel the Blessed = pump up your team infinitely.

Some combo's can also be achieved via Pod lines. Examples:

• Using Faeburrow Elder + Prime Speaker Vannifar + Lightning Greaves/Thousand-Year Elixir + 6 mana. Tap and then sac Elder for Emiel the Blessed. Blink Vanifar and sac Emiel to get Karmic Guide, returning Emiel. Blink Karmic guide to get back Eder. Then blink Vanifar and sacrifice Karmic guide to get Great Oak Guardian.
• Luminous Broodmoth + Birthing Pod/Prime Speaker Vannifar + a 3 drop: sac 3 drop for Emiel the Blessed -> Peregrine Drake.
• Luminous Broodmoth + Neoform/Eldritch Evolution + Eternal Witness/Timeless Witness has similar lines.

You ask, we deliver

Because of the many creatures that provide answers, the deck has quite a large creature tutor suite, adding a toolbox aspect to the deck. The deck also runs some non-etb based removal to deal with Torpor Orb and Hushwing Gryff. Note that both Wickerbough Elder and Ixidron are unnafected by those cards (as their effects aren't triggered abilities), providing the deck answers to tutor for.

Intented Power Level

This deck is built for the longer game, and is not trying to be super competitive, although some of the combos can come down early if you're lucky.

Closing Comments

I like that the cards in the deck have a lot of synergy. The deck stays interesting to play, even after years of playing it. And when it does become a bit stale, there are always new exiting ETB cards coming out that you can try.
