RUG Midrange / Superfriends

Standard RUG (Temur)

Sideboard

Started trying to figure out a way to make Master Biomancer viable and came up with something that actually looked really good.

Deck was inconsistent until I added more card draw engines. In this case, the card draw engines include: Triumph of Ferocity, Staff of Nin, Jace, Garruk and Tamiyo. All of these except Triumph have multiple purposes. Garruk makes guys, Jace protects you / other walkers, Staff pings / puts a clock and Tamiyo protects and is an alt win condition.

Edit: Tamiyo proved too situational and was moved to sideboard. Prime Speaker as another body and draw engine was put in instead. 3rd Jace removed. Will continue to test.

Other than the draw engines, everything else is either removal or super value creatures. We are running 9 removal spells and 15 creatures. Every creature passes the Jace test except for Biomancer. In his case, he just makes all the other creatures get insane value.

Biomancer T3 into Huntmaster T4 is incredibly powerful. He creates 2 4/4s. Biomancer is strong as he dodges most red removal as well as abrupt decay and ultimate price, making Victim of the Night, Mizzium Mortars, Murder and Dreadbore the only reliable ways to kill him.

The sideboard may look strange, but I'll explain. Counterflux and Negate are needed to combat Bant, American and Esper control decks. Searing Spear, Mortars and Bonfire will many times be dead cards, and we need to do something to combat their planeswalkers and win conditions.

Izzet Staticaster takes care of lingering souls or Sorin tokens, as well as odd things like Assemble the Legion. It dominates Humans by pinging mayor or Thalia or Lighting Mauler. Rolling Temblor also beats most aggro decks.

Tormods Crypt is obligatory graveyard hate. Curse of Echoes crushes control.

Clan Defiance may need some explanation. Snapcaster + farseek is something we do fairly often to ramp up our mana base for expensive creatures and planeswalkers. This fireball we only want to use where we get all 3 modes online, which comes into effect against Naya and Jund. You will hit Olivia / Vampire Nighthawk + huntmaster / deathrite shaman / thragtusk and also their face or a planeswalker. Against Naya it will hit Restoration Angel + any other creature and the face. Great value. Against these decks, ramping with snapcaster mage into bonfire or clan defiance is a game changer.

Any input or thoughts appreciated.
