So this is a deck that I've been playing on untap. This a modern variant on white weenie which is flooding the board with low-cost creatures that share a type and have effects that compliment each other. This deck in particular splashes red for more utility, while the white weenie brings the beatdown and lifegain and a couple of artifacts and enchantments that enhance these effects or keep us safe.
Norin the Wary is probably the most important card in this deck. If this guy resolves, we get Human ETB effects that combos naturally with these triggers:
Soul Warden
Soul's Attendant
Champion of the Parish
Genesis Chamber
Purphoros, God of the Forge
The bright side of this is that even with Genesis Chamber Soul Warden creating tokens for your opponent, you will almost always come out ahead in the exchange as you will always get Norrin back, and provided your opponent hasn't played any removal, you're gaining life for every creature coming into battle. This is doubly so if you have Anointed Procession in play, but more on that later. Champion of the Parish just gets bigger every time Norrin blinks or any one of our creatures come into play but one.
Which brings me to Ajani's Pridemate. He doesn't really do much on his own, nor does his creature type fits with the rest of the creatures in this deck. His ability is really key for this deck as you get to place a +1/+1 counter on him for each time you gain life, and this deck is constructed to gain large amounts of life but in increments of 1. He gets nutty quick, but doesn't really do anything by himself if a Warden or the like isn't in play, which is why I went down from 4 and splashed Dark Confidant in. Between Cavern of Souls and Aether Vial, he will come into play virtually uncounterable with one of the greatest effects in the game. With this deck's construction, you'll never lose more than 4 life at a given time which is a boon because you always gain it back and more. The card advantage that this card brings is nothing to be scoffed at, and is the card that if left unchecked, can win games alone. Ranger of Eos gives us more card advantage, but running more than 2 feels redundant.
This deck is enchantment heavy, while some like Leyline of Sanctity and Ghostly Prison provide protection, others like Outpost Siege and Purphoros, God of the Forge bring utility and stopping power. The main stars of the show have already been mentioned. Anointed Procession again like Ajani's Pridemate, doesn't do much on its own. Provided a Genesis Chamber + Norrin the Wary has been established on the board, you'll get twice as many tokens, and if you have either of the Soul Sisters in play Soul Warden + Soul's Attendant
, you'll gain a nutty amount of life. What's even better, that Norin the Wary activates on your opponent's turn. I chose it over Panharmoncion because a pair of Idyllic Tutor lets me be a bit more flexible, and the wording on AP basically ensures that I create more tokens than my opponent gets. The other sorcery is a good one. If your opponents have been dealing with your weenies, you can just bring them all back with Return to the Ranks. Goes great with a Genesis Chamber and Soul Warden already in play.
Running so creature heavy leaves me light on instants, I'm running 2 Path to Exile and a single Lightning Bolt as my go to removal. I don't really know what I'd take out to put in, it feels tight.
