This was my first attempt at an aggro race deck, not to be confused with my Bloodthirsty Vampires which is just meant to play out well early to midrange.
Basically, get out humans fast (best option is a 1st turn drop Champion the of Parish, following by a bloodthirsted
Stormblood Berserker
on turn 2]]) and buff the ones that are doing well. Keep swinging with everything, every turn, and wear away at the opponents life. Pull showstoppers like Tajic, Blade of the Legion, Hellrider, or Odric, Master Tactician for an added bonus against opponents who think the deck is made up of weak humans.
So hobey-ho, let's go!
Card Purposes
Odric, Master Tactician is a must have for this deck. It's not surprise for this deck to play 1 or 2 creatures a turn with 3 mana in a game, but why not throw Odric in? hes a 4 drop that can control a combat phase - great for dealing massive damage or getting rid of some smaller annoying creatures.
Raid Bombardment
- As this deck is built to chip away at an opponents life from the start with weak creatures, this enchantment makes sure that at least 1 damage happens. Hellrider essentially plays the same role, but a bit better.
Lightning Bolt has a dual purpose: deal that last 3 or so damage to beat someone, or get rid of a nasty X/3 creature
Mirran Crusader is a 2/2 3 drop with double strike and protection from 2 colors. Awesome!
Bonds of Faith
is key in this deck as the equivalent of creature removal, or, if you don't need it for that reason, just buff one of your humans.
Stormblood Berserker
is one of the most broken cards I've seen in the game since Vampire Nighthawk. This deck almost always plays out getting him out as a 3/3 that cant be blocked by only 1 creature on second turn. Brutal! Enchanting him with
Furor of the Bitten
or Madcap Skills makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Thatcher Revolt
is a great way to deal solid damage, especially when combining it with
Banners Raised
or Hellrider for that extra 3 damage. Another great use is giving Champion of the Parish +3/+3. Increasing Devotion was included for the same purpose, but don't harbour any delusions about using its flashback - this deck has too little mana, and was never designed for sustained play.
Spectral Rider
isn't a human, but when playing against a non-white deck and enchanting it with
Furor of the Bitten
or Madcap Skills turns its intimidate mechanic into a potential game ender.
the rest of the deck is pretty self explanatory.
Note: I've built a ton of decks, but I don't consider any of them perfect. There are plenty of more experienced players out there than me, so please, take a gander and let me know if there's anything I can improve on, any and all feedback is welcome!
