Sai, Master Thopterist - EDH 2 of 32

Commander / EDH Artifact Mono-Blue Tokens

END_LORD

Snoop Dogg roleplay. This is my second deck in my quest to make a deck for every color combination. This is my Sai CEDH deck that I am constantly updating and upgrading (editing the list however is something I do forget to do from time to time).

Back in Origins set I played a lot of draft with my friends. One of my favorite strategies in that set was UR artifacts. This was my favorite cause it was mostly uncommons and commons so it was easy to build. This resulted in me falling in love with thopters. Small, evasive, and easy to make a bunch of. It became my favorite budget standard deck at the time and even won me a few games. Fast forward to M19 and we get Sai, Master Thopterist . I was a bit sad that he wasn't UR, but in the end my love for him overcame that and I knew I had to make a deck for him.
Power: Sai can be very annoying to deal with as his thopters are hard to block and make for tasty chump blockers. For a while he was one of the better mono blue artifact commanders with the exception of Arcum Dagsson who could tutor for [Paradox Engine] and combo like crazy. Then Urza, Lord High Artificer came and changed that. Then Paradox Engine got banned and Arcum Dagsson pretty much died in CEDH along with a couple other decks. We then got Emry, Lurker of the Loch and he got pushed back even more. However, with the introduction of some spicy cards over the years, Sai can once again play with the big boys.
Aetherflux Reservoir + Mystic Forge + Sensei's Divining Top and any cost reducer: Etherium Sculptor , Cloud Key , etc: You'll be able to cast Sensei's infinitely and laser beam everyone with Aetherflux. If you don't own a sensei's you can win the hard way and traditionally storm off with the right setup.

Karn, the Great Creator + Mycosynth Lattice : This will prevent your opponents from mostly casting spells with the exception of free ones and activating any abilities with the important one being mana abilities, but they can still attack you and Karn. If you can Cyclonic Rift afterwards, your opponents will have no chance of winning.

Mechanized Production + 8 thopter tokens: While Mechanized Production can be used for value in a pinch, we will often be putting this on our thopter tokens which this deck can make a bunch of and winning once we reach our upkeep. A bit fragile, but has won me some games.

Sensei's is just super good and also part of one of our wincons in the deck while wayfarer's really isn't needed anymore after the upgrades to the mana base.

Mishra's Bauble isn't a bad card in this deck, but the deck has better draw effects and I'd rather have more fast mana in the deck.

Cloud key is just a better foundry inspector. The deck doesn't need more blockers and inspector being a creature makes it more vulnerable to removal.

Emry provides more consistent and guaranteed recursion than the Trawler. This is especially true when we want to get Mycosynth Lattice back from the grave.
