BURNINATE!

The Burninators

Satyr Firedancer - The reason I built the deck; this guy makes all of my burn spells ping both creatures and players. Him with Searing Blood is insane.

Chandra's Phoenix - Extra damage, evasion, and a possible blocker that keeps coming back. Lots of utility!

Chandra, Pyromaster - Pings for extra damage to creatures and players or gives me card advantage. Definitely a necessity when I'm going through my hand so quickly!

Boros Reckoner - It was between him and Guttersnipe. Boros Reckoner is my answer to midrange decks and the burn he deals can be redirected to creatures as well as players.

The Burn

Lightning Strike - Just a standard instant-speed three damage for two mana spell!

Magma Jet - The two damage is nice but the scry is what really shines.

Skullcrack - The inability for them to gain life can certainly come in handy, as can the extra bit of burn.

Boros Charm - Four damage for two mana or all of my guys get indestructibility for the turn? Worth splashing white just for this.

Warleader's Helix - Four damage can really be necessary at times and the life I gain from this is also much appreciated.

The Sideboard

Searing Blood - Replaces Skullcrack against aggro. Combos incredibly well with Satyr Firedancer. Also just a great card overall.

Chained to the Rocks - Whenever there's something my burn just can't deal with (i.e. Gods).

Mizzium Mortars - Deals with the bigger creatures (midrange, typically) that usually require multiple cards to get rid of.

Assemble the Legion - Counters mono-black's Desecration Demon and Pack Rat. Very tough to remove unless they're running exile.

The Future

Journey into Nyx looks like it will be giving me some more options. I'm really excited about Dictate of the Twin Gods as it will let me not only deal more damage with each burn spell, but with Satyr Firedancer and Boros Reckoner it will let me do much more.

Satyr Firedancer will deal double to creatures what my burn spells do to players , which can get pretty ridiculous. "I cast Lightning Strike, dealing 6 damage to you. Satyr Firedancer targets your Blood Baron of Vizkopa, dealing 12 damage to it."

Boros Reckoner basically can now act as a lightning rod. Picture this: I Warleader's Helix the turn after I flash in Dictate of the Twin Gods, targeting Boros Reckoner. Warleader's Helix hits Boros Reckoner for 8, who then redirects it to my opponent's face for 16. If I've got two Boros Reckoners on the field, I can redirect damage through each of them; a simple Lightning Strike would deal 24 damage through two Boros Reckoners.

Another possibility is Boros Charm and any other burn spell targeting Boros Reckoner after Dictate of the Twin Gods. Giving him indestructibility will allow him to deal damage to himself infinitely by continuing to target himself. The damage will keep doubling until you decide to redirect it. This could be hilarious.

Spite of Mogis could also prove to be very interesting. It would certainly help me target my Boros Reckoner with something and will scale well over time, potentially replacing my Mizzium Mortars in my sideboard.

FNM Match Results

March 21: 5-0

1st Match: R/B/W Midrange (2-1)

I lost the first game after he dropped Blood Baron of Vizkopa at 3 life. I have a hard time dealing with its 4 power and immunity to white so he stabilized and won it. After sideboarding in Assemble the Legion and Mizzium Mortars I was able to deal with it and set up a win condition to win the next two games.

2nd Match: Esper Control (2-0)

The first game I got lucky and drew my Chandra's Phoenix and Young Pyromancer. After sideboarding in Assemble the Legion, the rest was a non-issue thanks to Skullcrack.

3rd Match: Azorius Control (2-1)

The first game was tricky because of Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Jace, Architect of Thought, AEtherling, and Elixir of Immortality. After sideboarding in Assemble the Legion and baiting him into countering other cards, he wasn't able to remove the new win con and the games were mine.

4th Match: Junk Midrange (2-1)

This deck was really cool. I got demolished the first game from a Turn 3 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice into Archangel of Thune and then Courser of Kruphix and Voice of Resurgence. I sideboarded in Chained to the Rocks and Assemble the Legion and took the next two matches. An awesome moment from the last game was when he played a Desecration Demon and I countered with two Satyr Firedancers and a Skullcrack.

5th Match: Rakdos Midrange (2-0)

This match was really funny because he killed himself both games. His deck relied on Pain Seer , Herald of Torment , and Underworld Connections. Him drawing Desecration Demon and Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch with Pain Seer 's ability really helped me burn him down. I sided in Chained to the Rocks and it was really all I needed.

March 14: 4-0

1st Match: Red Deck Wins (2-0)

He got pretty close to beating me both times (I finished at 4 then 2 life) but I was able to throw down either a Boros Reckoner or stabilize with Warleader's Helix in time. Sideboarding in Searing Blood and taking out Skullcrack made his small guys a non-issue.

2nd Match: R/G/B Monsters (2-0)

Satyr Firedancer helped me eliminate both his big threats and his Elvish Mystics while not "wasting" two cards for one creature since they were both hitting the player directly anyways. I sideboarded in 4 Chained to the Rocks and 4 Mizzium Mortars for bigger threats and took out Lightning Strike and Magma Jet.

3rd Match: Simic Ramp (2-1)

A pretty offbeat deck that used blue for Simic Charm and Kiora, the Crashing Wave. It's goal was to ramp into Sylvan Primordial and Prophet of Kruphix and keep Kiora on the field. I was able to burn him quickly enough that Sylvan Primordial didn't make much of a difference, but I did lose to three Courser of Kruphix due to the lifegain in the second game. I sideboarded in 4 Chained to the Rocks and 3 Assemble the legions and took out Lightning Strike and 3 Magma Jet.

4th Match: Esper Control (2-0)

I was just too fast for him to deal with me. I had to watch out for Supreme Verdict the first game, but after sideboarding out Satyr Firedancer for Assemble the Legion I was able to get that out and win it. Baiting his counter to Assemble the Legion after he had returned it to my hand with Cyclonic Rift and responding with a Boros Charm took out his last 4 life and won me the whole thing.
