Ok so I am sure everyone has tried a jank version of this.
So, a little bit of back story on this deck. I was gearing up for GP Portland in 2013 getting ready to beat some face with a deck that I had tested and tweaked for 7 months. A lot of you might know that deck as "Melira Pod" I had everything ready to go and I decided to play in a prerelease for dragon's maze before I went. Well I crushed at these prerelease events and acquired some new cards. One such card was Varolz, the Scar-Striped.
So, I got to the GP and was about to turn in my nice and crisp typed decklist sheet at the check-in counter and before I knew it I had an almost brain aneurysm (figuratively speaking). I ripped back my sheet and asked for a blank. At this point I built a decklist on the spot based around Varolz, the Scar-Striped. I spent a half hour bartering and buying all the pieces then turned in my paperwork.
I am sad to say the deck did not perform as well as I would have liked but did way better than expected. With three byes I went 6-4 drop.
Granted this list is not that exact product, but it is very close. Things that it are missing: -Deathrite Shaman -Abyssal Persecutor
Best hand ever that day though. I was playing Mono-green Infect. This is is how it played out.
T1: Verdant Catacombs fetch for Overgrown Tomb, play Deathrite Shaman
T2: Verdant Catacombs fetch for Swamp, Deathrite Shaman ability to eat land, play Varolz, the Scar-Striped.
T3: Woodland Cemetery, play Lotleth Troll, discard 2 Death's Shadow, scavenge them both by eating another land and swing for 28 with Varolz.
So, this is what I have now. Let me know what you think and what you would change.
