Lazav 2.0 EDH.

This is a D.D./Ad Naus hybrid deck that's intended for cEDH environments.

Route 1 is Ad Nauseam, into Iso-Reversal combo, into Walking Ballista.

Route 2 is a Doomsday finish via Lab Man.

================================

A Doomsday pseudo-storm route can be done in the mid-game, if Ad Nauseam gets countered.

Using Predict to crack the pile, use the following 5 cards for your pile:

Gush, Mission Briefing, Isochron Scepter, Dramatic Reversal, and Walking Ballista. In that order.

Predict Gush to yard. Draw Briefing and Scepter.

Play Briefing, keep the Reversal and Ballista on top. Cast Gush off of Briefing, bouncing 2 islands.

Play Iso-Reversal into Ballista kill.

F.A.Q.:

Q: Why are you running so many zero CMC creatures, especially with 0 power and 0 toughness?

A: The answer is three-fold. The first is to fill the graveyard for cards like Mausoleum Secrets, second to preserve our life total, and lastly to serve as a pseudo-sacrifice outlet for Lazav on the combo turn.

First on filling the graveyard. Cards such as Diabolic Intent, Culling the Weak, Songs of the Damned, and Mausoleum Secrets make an appearance in this deck. In order to get the full amount of mileage out of these cards, creatures that can be cast for free, and then end up in the graveyard as a state-based action, or in the course of normal gameplay, actually work to our advantage by making these cards active.

Second on the list is early and mid game defense. These creatures serve as early game blockers in order to preserve our life total, something of which is vital to an Ad Nauseam deck. As this is an Ad Nauseam and Doomsday hybrid deck, our life total is a vital resource.

Third, on the combo turn, these creatures serve as a sacrifice outlet for Lazav. Cards like Endless One, when they're in the yard, allow us to sacrifice the general over and over again, thereby allowing for abuse of the Surveil mechanic. By turning Lazav into a copy of a 0/0 creature, Lazav dies as a state-based action, thus allowing the creatures in the yard to serve as pseudo-sacrifice outlets from out of the yard. When paired with infinite mana, via IsoReversal, this allows us to Surveil the deck into the yard until we hit either Walking Ballista or Lab Man for the combo kill.

Q: How does this deck win via Ad Nauseam?

A: Via Ad Nauseam, we put in excess of 30 cards in our hand. Often times it's in excess of 40. This will often allow us ample access to rituals and tutors, as well as counterspell protection, to go find IsoReversal. Via IsoReversal, we generate infinite mana, which allows us to eventually go find Walking Ballista or Laboratory Maniac for the win.

Q: Why do you use walking Ballista over Aetherflux Reservoir?

A: Mainly to keep the overall converted mana cost as low as possible so that Ad Nauseam doesn't hurt us as much. There's no need to use a 4 CMC card when a 0 CMC card can do the same amount of work while serving multiple purposes.

Q: What are your Doomaday lines?

A: The deck has a few different doomsday paths. In addition to the traditional Gush YOLO pile, and Protected Gush Pile, another common pile is the pseudo storm Doomsday pile. The pile is as follows...

Pile Cracker: Predict

5 card Doomsday pile:

Gush Mission Briefing Isochron Scepter Dramatic Reversal Walking Ballista

The path is as follows...

Predict Gush to the yard. Draw Mission Briefing and Isochron Scepter.

Play Mission Briefing, and keep both Dramatic Reversal and Ballista on top. Cast Gush off of Briefing, bouncing two islands to hand.

Play IsoReversal, into Walking Ballista, for the kill.
