It's KITTYTIME!
Before you read on: This deck is NOT meant to be top-of-the-line-win-the-GP-competetive, it is a deck that I created for my GF to have fun with Magic in Standard, and to maybe win a few games a the local store. It has not been properly playtested, nor has it won anything yet. Just keep that in mind if/as you read on.
When I saw the Hour of Devastation cards, I knew instantly what I wanted to make in the new standard. Me and the wife have always loved kitties and have owned them ever since I was small, and now, I can wreck havok with them in MTG. It's gonna be a hoot!
Feel free to give any advice and feedback you can think of! If you like the deck, feel free to give it an upvote! What would the biggest strength of this deck be? And what is it's greatest weakness?
Also, we would be greatly honored if you would give the deck an upvote (if you like it). :D
Main deck premise and idea
So the premise is simple...
Get a lot of cats on the board with Anointed Procession, Pride Sovereign and all your other delecious, token-making cats (Sacred Cat, Adorned Pouncer, Regal Caracal), control the board with your overwhelming amount of kitties, then run him over with
Overcome
or
Appeal / Authority
for great cat-victory.This process is made easier with the prescence of Vizier of the Menagerie on the board to help you get the cats out quicker, and Heroic Intervention to make sure that you don't get cleared so easily.Metallic Mimic will see to it that your kitties are beefy enough to withstand punishment and gain you a fair amount of life in the process.
You want more win-conditions? We have more! If for some reason you can't break through your enemies defences, you always have the option to sacrifice your kitties on the unholy alter of Westvale Abbey
and crash into your opponents face with a huge demon!
Sideboard
Basically,
Repel the Abominable
is the closest we are going to come to a Fog in this standard format, which makes it pretty stable in my sideboards, since both Hour of Devastation and the Electrostatic Pummeler-combo is a thing in standard.
If you should stumble upon a mirror-match with a lot of tokens, Declaration in Stone will wipe them off the board for you.
And should you be facing , the extra Prowling Serpopard is there to make sure that your kitties will not be countered to an early grave.
We also have a bit of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar in there for the control-matchup, as he is very hard to wipe off the board, and also synergieses very well with Anointed Procession.
Last but not least, we have the migthy Manglehorn to take care of whatever pesky artifact your opponent would throw at you.
Hope that you enjoy the cats! I will keep updating the deck and deck-description with more details on each card as the deck develops.
