The Guild of Selesyna has found the power of Squirrels! Populate the battlefield with the woodland creature!
I must be very clear up front. I do not want to use the Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest
combo. It's been done time and time again. Squirrels has so much more potential and this deck can prove it. This works more with the populate mechanic to quickly get out a high number of tokens.
First, it counts on just getting out an amazing number of squirrels. The more, the better. To aid in this, you will find a great boon between Deranged Hermit
+
Parallel Lives
. Add in the Nut Collector and you have a fairly constant supply of Squrriels. With Cathars' Crusade
+
Deranged Hermit
+
Parallel Lives
, it takes insane boardwipe to clear out these "little" critters. They will also utterly smash in your opponents face
Some of the Squirrel Cards were cut to help thin down the deck. This is a bulky deck and as such, it's a bit inconsistent. To this end, I use Druid's Deliverance, Rootborn Defenses and to keep even more safe: Sphere of Safety. With all the general enchantments I've got, Sphere was a natural inclusion. With just a little effort, this thing is obscene in protecting you.
When it comes to mana, these things are not cheap. The deck just feels slow because of it. That is way there is Growth Spasm in addition to Cultivate. Both these cards work very well to hunt up lands and get them into play so I can keep going with the squirrels and get them online.
*Gaea's Cradle is in here only because I pulled it from a booster ages ago. I wouldn't include a $30+ card otherwise. That's the whole reason it's Parallel Lives over Doubling Season. Mind you, add it in instead and other Squirrels become mini-gods quickly.
