Duel Commander*

Im going to start with a rather bold claim. Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is the ultimate general for a deck committed to birthing pod and reanimaton. These two strategies are generally very strong on their own but highly vulnerable to disruption. However when mixed together with Sidisi as the engine they form a competitive edh deck that is fast, resilient, and full of answers. Reanimator and Pod are very synergistic since they both share a love for creatures with enter the battlefield effects. Both strategies are also excellent at getting big creatures into play without paying their casting cost. Why is Sidisi better than any other general for this type of strategy you may ask? Let me explain.

1) Her colors are excellent for maximizing the power of birthing pod. Phyrexian Metamorph can copy Birthing Pod and Body Double can make 3rd copy if metamorph is in the graveyard to start. Kiora's Follower allows an extra use of pod each turn. Black provides the tutors necessary to consistently get pod into play around turn 4 or 5.

2) Her casting cost is perfect. When sacrificed to pod she can tutor up Phyrexian Delver or Body Double which can either bring her back to trigger more zombie tokens and self mill or something far more nasty (see any creature 6cc or highr). If I need to neutralize a dangerous board state I can pod her into Ixidron and follow that up with Massacre Wurm for a one sided board wipe + damage. if I want to nuke my opponents hand or dump a fattie into the yard I can grab Sadistic Hypnotist. Or if I need a specific card from my library (and for flavor's sake) I can tutor up Sidisi, undead visier .

3) Her self mill ability provides reanimation a level of consistency not usually possible. Usually the problem with reanimator strategies in EDH is that you will have a card like Buried Alive in your hand but no Reanimate or vice versa. Its too hit or miss. However, since Sidisi fills up the graveyard incrementally and does so immediately I can devote far more cards to reanimation and far less to filling up my graveyard. This mean that I nearly always have at least one reanimation card in my opening hand and have everything I need if a scary card drops into the graveyard.

4) She is expendable and provides an immediate benefit. I only usually need 1-2 triggers before things get out of hand.
