Welcome feedback!

Wanting to make a competitive deck. Using MTG Arena to play test. Eventually want to go to Tournaments and have some fun! Currently my deck is considered Historic. First question would be, which format?

Please criticize the hell out of the deck and my analysis of it as well.

The Idea: SIMIC SLAM.. In the past, I was trying to use my +1/+1 counters... well… for nothing actually. G/W where I focused using The Ozolith to recover and redistribute. There really wasn’t anything flashy. No combo that I could rely on. So on and so on. Played many games where I would stack up 20-30+ counters but only using them on one creature. Didn’t really help if opponent kept blocking. Introducing Azban Falconer and Duskshell Crawler to add that needed pressure. Again, it was nothing too flashy and won some cool games. Still needed upgrades.

So now, G/W/B. Focusing on Simic Ascendancy. The focus being ramp up quickly and SLAM.

So, my main counter ramper is Luminarch Aspirant. Paired with an Hardened Scales, Hopeful Initiate, and\or Wildwood Scourge at the beginning of the game is ideal. This allows to build quickly while applying pressure.

To add to that pressure, Duskshell Crawler/Abzan Falconer/and Herald of the Secret Streams were added. Since my creatures almost always have a +1 / +1 counter on them, I felt these were a no-brainer.

A really cool combo is [[Servant of the Scale]+[The Ozolith]]. Servant allows you to give another creature counters while Ozzy still takes them away. Double ramping lets go!

Since, I have Hopeful Initiate (and almost always have counters), I didn’t feel the need to add destruction spells for artifacts and enchantments. Bad Idea? Additionally, since I am running blue, I thought running counter spells would be more ideal. I decided on, Test of Talentsand Dissipate.

I’m new to the competitive scene and still not sure about how my sideboard should be laid out. How should I think when building the sidekick? What am I supposed to keep in mind?

Thanks in advance for any advice and criticism!
