SMASHING!
The first deck I put together, I wanted it to be simple win condition that really only required basic math skills and only a little restraint maybe 10% of the time, otherwise we're going 0-100 and winning on turn 4 or 5!
So put your game FACE on. We're going in!
Opening hand ideally: Anything with two lands and a turn two creature.
Preferably:
T1: Forest, One drop or nothing...oh well.
T2: Forest, Two drop, Strangleroot Geist = 2 damage.
T3: Forest, Leatherback Baloth. = 2 damage.
T4: Forest, Groundbreaker + Aspect of Hydra = 20-21 damage.
BAM! Hit 'em so hard they don't know which way is up with total damage equaling - 24 or 25 depending if Geist died and came back from Undying. Most of the time you aren't worried about Baloth dying that easily. Hopefully your opponent doesn't have spot removal for Groundbreaker (Ex: Smother or
Go for the Throat
, and the Aspect will get it out of range of a lot of burn spells while Trampling over a blocker they might have.
If you don't get the ideal hand the deck still kills pretty fast with incremental growth from the Experiment One, bolstered Avatar of the Resolute, and Rancor running over tiny blockers. Also, every card in the deck has full devotion to enabling Aspect of Hydra to get insane amounts of damage for one mana.
I put Dismember in the deck cause I'm playing so aggressively that I'm not really worried about my life total in most cases and it's pretty good removal.
Not really sure what to put in the sideboard, at my LGS I haven't really run into any deck that can deal with the aggressiveness super well, so I slapped in some
Keen Sense
for card draw and
Revenge of the Hunted
to steamroll harder (I would insta-mulligan the hand if Revenge was in my opening draw.) as most people will never suspect it coming.
I'm open to any and all suggestions for the deck although I would like to keep it as aggressive as possible. Sideboard options/tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
