Soul, Death, and Fury

(Dragons v2.0)

Things are going to be a little different now that they're all on the same team...

With the power of the three most notable - or infamous- dragons in standard, this Grixis control deck can sneak in quick attacks while dominating the game with the numerous counter and removal spells. In addition, quick casting some small but impactful burn spells can result in a change of momentum. To gather all the right spells, a couple of Dig Through Times tend to the trick. On the other hand, Despise and Kolaghan's Command can safely force the opponent between a rock and hard place.

Sometimes a pile of lands come to other and sometimes they don't. Even now after hundreds of tests, the manabase still needs some tweaking. Twenty-six lands are plenty and sufficient for a dragons control deck but the coloring remains a bit off. I really think a few Forests here and there should really balance it out. But hey, I think Storm Crow is only 10 stars when it's really 11.

Nothing shouts, "C0uNt3reD rofl n00b!" like control. Silumgar's Scorn and Scatter to the Winds both serve as nice and reliable counterspells. On the other side of the fence, however, Exquisite Firecraft reaps the benefits of all the counterspells in addition to serving as fuel for Dig Through Time and chipping off a nice chunk of the opponent's health. Although Exquisite Firecraft would be better if there was a six point life swing like you gain 3 and opponent loses, lifegain just isn't "red".

While I do enjoy exiling the opponent's creatures, Foul-Tongue Invocation will just have to do. And I guess Languish just does what Languish does. On top of all this, Despise - well- it just knocks ugly threats like Siege Rhino before it even sees Turn 3!!11!!11!!!11!1!!!1!1!!1! Just to stay true to "Dragon Control", Crux of Fate belongs here just like the Forests I talked about in the ManaBase section. Now I realize that stronk enchantments will kill meeeeee.
