So the point of this deck is to get out an early
Nivmagus Elemental
or Quirion Dryad then play (and possibly exile) a ton of cheap spells to make them huge and swing for lethal quickly.
Creatures
Delver of Secrets
is still a very strong card. It begs for a removal spell or else it has the opportunity to do some serious damage.
Nivmagus Elemental
is in there because who doesn't love swinging for 1 and then all of a sudden making it 7 or 9?
Quirion Dryad has great synergy with this deck as she is the only green spell in the deck. Plus a turn 2 Dryad followed by a turn 3 Spectral Flight and you have a 4/4 flier that can only get bigger.
Snapcaster Mage is here as a tool to get back a second use of any cheap spell that is in the graveyard.
Instant
Essence Scatter is in the mainboard over
Syncopate
because after some playtesting I realized that countering a creature spell and potential blocker is a lot stronger than forcing an opponent to pay 1 or 2. The deck is not about having large amounts of land in the mainboard, thus a hard counter is better than
Syncopate
.
Fleeting Distraction
is a pretty good cantrip and as a 1-drop has the potential to just read "Pay U, put two +1/+1 counters on
Nivmagus Elemental
.
Mizzium Skin
is great spot protection as a one drop and its overload is crazy if your playing a deck heavy in burn or spot removal. Also being a 1-drop makes it a good spell for
Nivmagus Elemental
to eat up.
Unsummon is one of the best removal cards blue has in standard now and it can clear the way of any potential blockers.
Thought Scour is a good cantrip for this deck and like all the other spells is a good source for the elemental.
Sorcery
Artful Dodge makes this deck win games. Being able to swing in for 10+ unblockable is never a bad thing.
Enchantment
Spectral Flight is possibly the best non-creature spell in this deck. With its ability to add evasion on top of a nice boost it wins games. Plus, its effects are permenant (as long as it is on the battlefield) and can push cards like
Nivmagus Elemental
or Quirion Dryad over the top.
This deck can be extremely aggressive and works well off of only a few lands. But, it can be very easy to overextend, especially with cards like Mutilate, Terminus and Supreme Verdict seeing play.
As always suggestions and +1's are always appreciated, especially comments and suggestions for a sideboard. Right now I have no idea what to do with it.
