One squirrel no problem. A thousand Squirrels problem...
For they may yet rise up and beat you senseless

1 Untapping lands is essential for the deck. If you plant a Wild Growth on a Forest you would want to untap that forest(UGL) as much as you can in order to make as much profit as possible. Or say you have a Squirrel Nest it’s the same story – we need something who can raise that army for us.

o 4 Arbor Elf is untapping a specific type of land. That type Wasteland cannot hit. But hey – even though you do not have any of the two cards on a forest you can still in turn 2 cast Chatter of the Squirrel and then flash it back – making 2 squirrels. In turn 3 you can cast garruk in order to untap 2 more lands and boom from there. The only thing that concerns me is our number of nonbasic lands we have who loves untapping as well:

o Swarmyard , Maze of Ith also loves untapping – and yes, I am planning on getting a Gea’s Cradle for the deck. So we need our Voyaging Satyr . Though the downside here is the “high manacost”

o Garruk Wildspeaker is a high cost card. The reason why we want him though is his ability to untap nonbasic lands and untap our land with Wild Growth on it; casting him for what looks like 1 mana. Later in the game we can use his Overwhelming Stampede as a game ender.

Draw extra cards each turn in order to get some squirrels or your beloved card Epic Struggle and wait until it is your upkeep. and when you finish your turn, you discard all cards in your hand, run up a tree and hide.

(you can still attack with 2/2 Squirrels in your combat step)

  • Bind is for those who thinks they can out-combo a Squirrel deck... it's only a combo-ender.

But if their combo is consistent, guess our card shouldn't be hard to find, so 4 times Bind please.

if we cannot get Epic Struggle to work, well... Guess we will have to eat us way to the victory.

Suggestions

Updates Add

  • Added cards:

+3 Echoing Courage -in order to make a surprise attack

+1 Squirrel Wrangler -Consistency is key

+2 Obelisk of Urd

  • Removed cards:

-2 Bow of Nylea -moved to sideboard

-2 Beastmaster Ascension Replaced with Obelisk of Urd

-1 Second Harvest - I have had this card many times without using it because the opportune moment wasn't there - you need to have enough squirrels. I still have 2 in my board.

-1 Deranged Hermit – I am sad to let this one go. And I am still wondering if I should add him and take out the added Squirrel Wrangler. Let’s playtest it.
